Door skin

hi all,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but we are waiting for L.hand door skin for the mk2 spitfire, (on back order in all dealers) and we want it done this year!  :'(

Could you tell me if a later 1500 would fit, is it the same shape/dimensions?

I know it has different holes for lock and handle, but I can sort that out, as we can get one of them.

So frustrating, when some of the parts are on B.O, we are also waiting for the lower floor support (L shaped bracket at front, onto outrigger) that's also b.o.

All the doors are the same shape. You should be able to find some skins that have no holes cut.

Personally if you have to use a pre-cut door, I would use a MkIII door rather than a MkIV door as the holes that you havve to fill in are smaller and there is less chance of distortion.

Tried eBay? or the smaller suppliers may have something tucked away;

MK3 Doors ...as rare as hens teeth.......I tried every conceivable place to obtain them .Only by accident did I find Alan Petit had two he was selling

Thanks for the replies chaps,
I will ask about, but time is against us, as it's booked in for acid dipping, was in may, but no moved back to June to try and give us some leeway.

Don't forget to try Fitchetts as there is a good chance they produce them themselves (they bought some of the original Triumph presses). They don't have a web site so you will have to call - 01952 619585 or 01952 620434

I think it's fitchets that all the dealers are waiting for! All the ones we asked, said they are on back order.
