chunky63
Sorry if this has been discussed before...My tailgate spring doesn't have the muscle power to hold up the tailgate. Is there an adjustment or do the springs need renewing. Any advise gratefully received, thanksAnd before anyone asks no I don't need lengths of wood or sponge hats...just a working tailgate 🙂
RedRooster
New spring i would guess, while your at it might as well do the tailgate to body seal.

John Bonnett
I'm just guessing here but the two torsion bars are out of line and the clamp looks like it is in the middle. I seem to remember on mine the clamp is offset from the centre. I would have thought for them to operate properly the two torsion bars should be in line or parallel with each other. Just a thought and perhaps worth a try.
chunky63
Thanks John.I moved it to one side as shown in the manual and aligned the torsion bars. Alls well now and the tailgate opens very well now. Thanks all

byakk0
Here you go. You can use this for placement of the clamp if needed. It's factory set, I haven't disassembled it at all.

Many thanks that's excellent info....like the 'yard stick' good old imperial measurement just as I like it 🙂 My torsion springs have an unpainted patch in that location so I have used that to align the clamp. Its in the same position as shown in your photo, cheers
