james833
Hi Guys-I don't know if anyone can help.....I have a Spitfire fitted with a dolly 1500 engine, and I don't know the (dynamic) ignition timing figure - apparently it may not be the same as the Spitfire. It's a 'YC' prefix engine, if that makes any difference. I've timed it to 10 degrees BTDC, and it's pinking like mad.If anyone has access to something like the Haynes Dolly manual and could let me know, I'd be really grateful. Thanks!James
Toledo Man
I had my 1500 Dolly engine timed at 10 deg BTDC (static) and I didn't notice any pinking while it was in my Toledo. Mind you, I was using my single SU HS4 at the time. What carbs are you using? Maybe you need to play around with the timing till you get it right.
