sparky_spit
Apart from obvious things like external door handle holes, internal handle holes, drillings and probably window winder holes and associated internal bits, are Mk4/1500 Spitfire doors the same as the earlier roundtail car's doors? Basically, will a later one physically fit in the gap of an earlier car and would the hinges line up? Nick Jones
I’m no Spitfire /GT6 expert, but I believe so. With the possible exception of the very early stuff. Almost wish I’d put Mk2 (GT6) door/handles on my GT6, so much more sensible and robust! Nick
RobPearce
I believe so, as Nick says. The later door frames contain a superset of holes, suggesting they were pressed to be used both for Mk4 doors and as replacements for earlier cars. Tim Bancroft
The only issue would be with early mk1 doors that have the pivoting handle and recessed locks. My Mk2 GT6 has Spittie 1500 doors, that have been modified both internally (door handle: Holes exist for the older type of handle) and externally (early doorskins). MKI, and MKII (early). The early doors are a very different beast
sparky_spit
Thanks gents. I have been collecting a few panels when I see them cheap and will soon have no excuse to not get round to fixing the "built by a five-year-old with a glue gun" look my car currently has.
