Tom2000
Hey folks, My bonnet is buggered after a run in with a post many years ago and i'm in the process of finally rebuilding her. I realise their maybe modification required but can a MKII GT6 front end (bonnet and valances) be made to fit on a late Spitfire? Thanks Tom P.s this new forum late out isn't the best. drofgum
Tom, Any Spitfire after 1970 will have a different front to the chassis frame. So a direct bolt-on doesn't work. Cheers, Paul
WIMPUS
The front hinge boxes from thr mkIV/1500 will need to be cut off and new mountings to weld on for the early style bonnets.Front beam etc is all the same.
Tom2000
Quoted from WIMPUS- The front hinge boxes from thr mkIV/1500 will need to be cut off and new mountings to weld on for the early style bonnets.Front beam etc is all the same. Thank you I understand that it wouldn't be a direct bolt on and would require modifiation but it is possible then?

Normally i think it's possible, seen 1500's with a mk3 spit bonnet on..Sills etc should be the same.
Richard B
Personally it will always look a 'bitsa with a MkII bonnet. Why not go for a MkIII GT6 bonnet and keep it contemporary?
Tim Bancroft
If you wish to sell the car at some point, it will be seriously compromised, as Richard states,a bitsa. Sell the mk2 bonnet and buy a new one from Fitchetts. If your GT6 mk2 bonnet is a Stanpart bonnet, it will be worth good money as the fit should be good.
