wintersc
Hi everybody!I've recently become the proud owner of a '67 GT6 which is giving me a lot of pleasure (and troubles too of course :)). It turns out that some previous owner had fitted CD150 carburetors from a BMC B series which are a bit different, and I would really very much return it to original. Thus, I'm looking for a pair of Stromberg CD150's with serial numbers 3092F and 3092R for a reasonable price. Does anybody have an idea where I might find those? Thanks,Christoph

wintersc
Thanks Hughbert for the quick reply! I forgot to mention that I live in the UK, so shipping from the states may sadly be prohibitively expensive :(

junkuser
"some previous owner had fitted CD150 carburetors from a BMC B series which are a bit different"In what way are they "different" Chris?Jets, bodies, enrichment mechanism? No little s or se stamped after the 150? wintersc
They are different in many ways. E.g., it seems that the B series had the carbs mounted on the left side (on the GT6 they are on the right) and a PO had 'made them fit'. The linkage is also different, the fast idle mechanism is different, the needles are different. Not sure about the jets, those might be the same. There's no S/SE stamped after the 150, because there's not even a 150 stamped onto mine. They just read Stromberg CD. I put some pictures up in the past, they are here: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=4AC03D6F1EC8F583!2819. (Note that I have since moved to throttle return spring to a more sensible location.) rotoflex
I got an excellent rebuilt pair of carbs for my GT6 from Andrew Turner.
npanne
What are you after - CD150 / 150S / 150SE?New / refurbed or used?
junkuser
Depends on economics, what is available and what you want Chris, but those early CD ones could be refurbished to do the job.
cook1e
Andrew Turner is good for rebuilt Triumph Carbs but if you want brand new the Carburettor Hospital in Southend have loads of new old stock Triumph Carbs. Apparently they bought up a load of stock from the Triumph factory when it closed down. http://www.carburettorspecialists.com/
wintersc
Cookie: Thanks so much for telling my about the carb hospital! This is a great source of parts indeed. At the moment I'm looking at getting used but rebuildable ones, but failing to do so I will definitely consider buying new ones from them. GTRoger
I've been trying to contact Eric at the carburettor hospital by mail and phone, but no succes.... Does anyone knows if he is still in business?
cook1e
I I pointed a guy on one of the Facebook Triumph groups in his direction about a week ago and he purchased a Strindberg for his herald so yes they are still in business. It could of course be holiday time this week?
GTRoger
Could be, only the first email has been sent 3 weeks ago and another one last week. Phoned today but the connection failed. :-/
cook1e
That does seem strange then, I definitely passed on the details to the guy with the Herald less than 3 weeks ago and I know he ordered a new old stock CD150 carb from them, presumably via phone... It was him that mentioned that Carburettor Hospital told him that they bought up a load of Stock from Triumph when the factory closed. I went there in the early 90s as I used to live over that way, I went to get my carbs reconditioned by them and they offered me a brand new pair of carbs with mine in part exchange for less than they would charge to recondition mine. They were from the later model GT6 but with a bit of fettling of the linkages they fitted fine and the mixture was spot on without any adjustment, I just had to balance them... I think it was about £200 quid for the pair back then...
