Coil Pack Bracket

For mounting an EDIS 4 coil pack bracket to the Spitfire bulkhead, could you replicate something like this:

http://www.lloydspecialistdevelopments.co.uk/4-cylinder-coil-pack-bracket.html

but in 1mm aluminium? I don't have a coilpack in my hands yet so can't really get my head round what will be adequate.

I'm thinking instead of 2 large holes on the lower section, it could have holes that match the heater valve mounts.

I still have quite a bit of the stuff hanging around the garage from when I made the passenger glovebox.

I made something similar to that but it bolts to the original coil mounting.
May still have the drawing for it - will have a look tomorrow and pdf it if I find it
Doesn't show up too well in picture but you get idea for location - similar to bracket you link - remove coil, 2 holes in baseplate use coil bolts to fix then coilpack fixes to tapped holes folded over top of bracket
Mine was made from 2mm alu but 1mm may do job but a bit flimsy - 1mm steel would be fine

The coilpacks are not light, so I suspect 1mm ali would be too thin. I have a manufactured one somewhere, that is made out of 2 or 3mm steel! In fact, I think the original ford ones are pretty thick steel too. Probably for a good reason.

Hi,
One reason the Ford brackets are so thick is they are meant to mount directly on the engine where there is much greater vibration to fatigue the part.

that would be great if you could. I've saved quite a few photos too of your installation, hoping they'll be of help when I do mine!

What I could end up doing is using the 1mm aluminium but strengthening it somewhat, but I'll wait until I have an actual coilpack before having a look.

Bainzy - posted it further up the page (at 03:05  :-/ didn't sleep last night so went and dug it out - daughter not impressed with scanner beeping away at 3 in the morning)
Thiink I've also got a drawing of sensor bracket at work - in Egham at the moment so probably wont make it back today but will have a look when I do

lol cheers, guess I get zero points for observation skills there!

Should be okay for sensor bracket, the pulley/trigger wheel Ive bought had a bracket and sensor thrown in. Just as well actually because he's designed it for an unusual location, the spark plug side of the engine - most people I've noticed tend to put the bracket on the exhaust/inlet side, and if the missing tooth is designed to be on either side, you have to stick with that relevant side.

By the way David, what head/cam are you running on that 1500?

When I get megajolt up and running I'll need a map, and externally at least it looks like we'll have a similar spec so it'd be good to exchange notes. I'll be running K&N's, 4>2>1 into twin tailpipes, with a standard spec head and cam.

Same set up then - although I suspect cam may not be bog standard, not had anything in engine apart to check as experience favours the 'if its not broke don't fix it' method with regard to engines. However when I changed the rocker cover noticed the head didnt look standard (too well machined) and sure it had 'TT' cast/stamped into it.
My map was based on one from Bobbyspit - worked straight away and only needed a small amount of tweaking, when you are ready let me know and can email it to you
