Shorter half shafts

Hi folks

Vitesse Mk1 2litre.  Would it be possible/likely that shorter half shafts have been fitted, for clearance between 185 tyres and wheel arch lip.

Any help would be great.

No. All shafts the same, except late spits which had 1" longer shafts.
Shorter spring might help by tilting wheels in at the top. But teh better solution is wheels with the correct offset to give the required clearance, or cheaper still narrower tyres.

Yes, correct, but what about the later swing spring Gt6? Cheers, Dave.

Same longer shafts as the later Spitfires.

Correct wheel offset is the key.  Not alot of spare room in Herald/Vitesse arches.

Was wondering as current shafts don't look that old, same with the tyres.

I want to fit 165's, so just checking car has got standard standard halfshafts , if this makes sense.

165's should fit fine. I always ran my Vitesses on them with no problems. Cheers, Dave. Ps I run my 13/60 on 5J alloys with 165/80s . No problem.
