Marinaman
Hi, Please, can anyone advise me? I am trying to adjust the clutch fork so that the clutch bearing is not toughing the fingers of the clutch cover. The clutch plate has been renewed. What I do, is push the action pin completely home in the slave cylinder.Than, I put a gauge of 1/8" between the bearing and the fingers. After that, the two bolts of the fork bracket are tightened again. After applying the clutch pedal, the bearing moves forward. After releasing the clutch pedal, the bearing just stays there, slightly touching the clutch cover. I think the bearing should be free of the fingers. What is the correct way of adjusting? Thank you.
RobPearce
I don't think it's intended to be "free of the fingers". The bearing's rest position should be just in contact, so that the clutch pedal begins to operate the clutch as soon as you press it. Any clearance between the bearing and the clutch spring will translate to lost motion in the pedal.
That Man
yes,the bearing is not supposed to retract fully, the 1/8" gap is just to allow for wear. As long as the bearing is not tight against the diaphragm it's ok
