maph2
i've stripped the front hub down. is it just a case of removing the rear nyloc nut on the end of the axle and whacking the axle out? are they a pain to get out? i've given this one a couple of whacks but doesn't want to budge. andyz
I had to use a hydraulic press on mine. Came out with a bang. Might be worthwhile to leave the nut on (loosened) so the axle doesn't shoot out?

heraldcoupe
I always put them across the jaws of a vice, with the nut removed, then replace to provide protection to the threads. A few clouts with a 4lb lump hammer has the stub out easily, just unscrew the nut and it's all split. A few weeks ago I did a batch of 10 vertical links this way, no trouble getting any of the stubs out,Cheers,Bill.

maph2
i soaked some wd40 into it and gave it a couple more whacks and it popped out. had to replace it with a new one from canley classics as there was a lot of scoring around the inner bearing area. Piero franchi
The ones that just pop out are easy, the ones that dont, need the press
