marshman777
Just bought a 13" leather steering wheel of ebay for a few quid (bargin) a bit tatty but should clean up well. Only problem isthat some of the stitching has started to come undone n the leather. Is there an easy way of doing this or has it got to be a proffesional job.ThanksAndy :-/

Jonny-Jimbo
Is it the thread that's come out or has the leather ripped through the holes?Back at my parents home I've got a magazine that has an article on how to re-cover a steering wheel. If you want I can copy it and email to you? or send you the mag and issue number so you can order a back issue?
Simoneg
I re-sewed the leather cover on an ex-Vitesse steering wheel some years ago and it was a straightforward job. Took the leather right off the wheel (after studying and recording the stitching pattern, especially around the spokes), and cleaned it well with saddle soap. This softened it up, restored suppleness and allowed some stretching when put back over the wheel. Black thread should be available from shoe repairers or saddlers, who might also be able to supply a curved needle. Simon
IVANHOE
There's a couple of good videos on youtube showing how the stitching is done. You use two needles for the cross stitch. Worked for me.
