Hot feet, hot footwells...

Cant seem to reply to the previous post with the same title but wondered if the thermostat is opening fully as this could explain the apparent discrepancy between engine and hose temperatures

Best take it out and suspend it in hot water and see what it does.

Many thanks will try the thermostat test. What temp should it open? (sorry to be an ignoramus, but just checking!)

Typical thermostats for our cars are 82C or 88C. I'm not sure whether the V8 is different but they're not exactly precision devices. If it opens properly in not-quite-boiling-at-ambient-pressure water then it's working.
