john1960 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 morning all, I will be taking the vitesse up to cumbria in about a fortnight to have od box fitted, mechanic was on the phone wanting to make sure he has the right box as its a 320 mile round trip any checks I can make, its a 1970 mk2
Clive Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 What box, but if it came out a vitesse (and is not a conversion, ie dolly single rail etc) it will go in.You need all the ancillaries too, rubber mount, metal mounting plate, speedo cable, angle drive for cable, switch/cowl, loom/relay for switch and propshaft etc. Be sure you have EVERYTHING as delays cost.Difficult to check without stripping or driving it.Clive
Bob Bowling Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Make sure you get the right mounting plate for the overdrive D & J types use different ones. Also check your propshaft is the right one - OD shafts are shorter
Straight Six Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Don't forget the need for a longer gear selector (if that's what it's called) with the 'T' piece on the end for the inhibitor switch, as well as the bracket to mount the inhibitor switch. I only say because I know someone who did forget just those items.....
john1960 Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 thanks for the replies, how do I tell d or j type
Pete Lewis Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 D type solenoid drivers side .... J type passenger side Peter
