dazasdolly Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Hello FolksMe And Colin (aka thescrapman) have been looking at the gearbox due to me not being able to select 3rd and 4th gears. We took top cover off and we can select both gears with a lever bar gently. Put the top cover back on and unable to select via gearstick.Any thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanksDarren Quote
Mark Hammond Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Bent selector fork or selector rod perhaps?Mark Quote
Nick Jones Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Have a close look at the pins that locate the ball of the gearlever. It's been a very long time (!) but I seem to remember that's it's possible to do something with these that means you can't quite get the 3/4 gate - possibly related to the reverse gear lock out. The single rail mechanism is actually pretty reliable usually.Nick Quote
thescrapman Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 MmmmmPins are new as originals missing. Also gear lever is a non-overdrive one if that is relevant. Quote
dazasdolly Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 Thank you for the replies gents, all now fixed thanks to Nicks suggestion was indeed the pin on the right. I actually drove it out and back into the garage. Happy days all coming together now.All the bestDarren Quote
Nick Jones Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Good news 🙂It's caught me a couple times in the dim and distant past. I've forgotten the details, just remember that it was all too easy to turn a working gearbox into an apparently broken one with no effort at all, just by fiddling with the gear lever. Easy to fix though - once you've worked out what it is.Nick Quote
