My GT6 mk3 (1973) non-rotoflex has a J type O/D gearbox, is this correct or would it have had a D type fitted when new?

The gearbox number starts with GR, what does this relate to?

Thanks

All GT6 had d type. But the J type with the 3 rail box was fitted to early dolomite 1850's, and is a bit stronger. But same length.
GR means it was a factory recon box at some point (I think!)

On the Rimmers site i found this :

'Original factory exchange reconditioned units were numbered with the prefix  GR and a suffix of /7, and can be identified by these markings'

There are those who claim that very late GT6 Mk3 were fitted with J-type OD from the factory.  They do turn up in the 'States apparently and they didn't have the 1850 Dolly to pinch them from.....
