electric fan - thermostatic switch position

Hi all

Ive got a kenlowe electric fan fitted to my mk4 spit.

I just need a thermostatic switch to make it turn on and off.

In the pic there appears to be a drain hole with a bung in the bottom of the radiator.

Could I fit a switch here or is this not an effective location, and if I can fit it here, does anyone know what the thread size is so i can find a suitable switch.

Thanks
Alex

I don't know what size thread that is, but it's small. Most thermostatic switches have a 22 x 1.5mm thread. There are a lot of different switches this size, with different on and off temperatures. The tidiest way is to get a 22mm nut brazen to your top or bottom tank (cue recurring Forum argument number 7)* and screw the switch in.

* 7 is a guess. But we seem to have a fair few polarised topics which resurface every six months or so!

Hello,

I did in my car. Brass tube 30mm and nut M22x1, 5 (from the ALU-PEX conector)
Important is the temperature sensor in the return pipe 82-84 * C
Not knowing that I was 97 * C and water to boil before the fan started.  ;)
