I spent the first few days of my Christmas holidays on bending some more brake pipes for the ’76 car. Slowly getting the hang of it again! https://tr7beans.blogspot.com/2021/12/fhc-resto-nr-135-brake-pipes-part-3.html

I presume that should read LHD 😉 Though not yet sure I will use the original plenum, adapt it or use something different. At least I have a complete and fully functional FI system hidden somewhere. Time will tell how that will be fitted to the DHC ...

Something like that, initial thoughts were for the Opel C20XE throttle body. But maybe the VW item has an easier adaptable mounting pattern.

One of the jobs I want to do on my DHC, using an original TR7 FI system. But with a modern ECU and distributor-less ignition and maybe a twin throttle body for more torque at lower revs. Just need some more hours in a day at the moment!

Anyway it was an exciting season and the best driver got the title he deserved! And the best car got the constructors award. Though Mercedes' pit strategy actually lost them the driver's championship yesterday.

I haven't used a CV jointed prop shaft since, only universal joint prop shafts for me please 😇
-
When the car failed on the Timmelsjoch one of the first things I did was checking underneath the car. At that point the prop shaft still was in its designed location and not hanging on the catch band. It dropped out sometime afterwards. As the prop wasn't turning at the time I thought it was either a clutch of gearbox failure.

See previous post 😉

With V8 conversions there are a few things to check. As mentioned the cable drive gear in the box and wheel tyre combination. But more important what final drive is fitted. This has to match the gearbox! Check the stamped number on the underside of the diff housing, this will point you towards the CWP ratio:

You have clearly never owned a TR7 🤪 They are famous for shredding the rear lower link bushes 🥴 Good quality poly bushes has eliminated that problem!

A small physical start on my 1976 TR7’s braking system. https://tr7beans.blogspot.com/2021/11/fhc-resto-nr-134-brake-pipes-part-2.html

The edition for tonight has been cancelled due to the current Covid restrictions. The provisional new date for the event is the 19th of March 2022. But I am not not involved in the organisation, and as such will only promote our own event later in the year 🤪

No dates yet for 2022.

A friend has Hankook tyres (but different profile) on one of his (track) cars. He is very satisfied with them.

I think it is next weekend, Saturday the 13th of November. They moved dates due to Corona ...
