  1. Single Jag springs in my 2.5 tuned up Vitesse.10,000 miles so far. Steve
  2. Help needed please... I have bought a 123 tune (usb) distributor for my car as the one in there is all wrong for the engine and i was wondering if there are standard maps available anywhere for different setup just to get the ball rolling. It came with 2 maps installed but i have no idea if they will work. I can install it and probably get it running,i`m competent with a laptop but have no idea about vacuum and settings etc. Engine is 2.5 with ported and flowed head, matching inlet flowed to head and fitted with twin HS6. Mike Randall 6-3-1,TR5 cam.Compression ration is 10:1 It made 172 bhp on a rolling road when installed a couple of years ago. If anyone could offer any advice it would be appreciated. Steve
  3. That looks like a modern equivalent usually advertised as an "upgrade," possibly Land Rover. In my personal experience i found it needed a lot more leg to get decent stopping power and went back to the original which is indeed larger than the clutch one and should be .070 bore (GMC209) iirc. Steve.
  4. I quite liked the out and back in one day this year, although it was a little tainted by the breakfast chaos on Saturday which saw us walk out having waited ages. The general standard of the evening meal was 5 out of 10 at best.Improvements needed at the OST but maybe understandable after hearing the awful events with the manageress. We really enjoy the social side of this event so trying to get as many teams in one place is a good thing. Looking forward to next year. Steve
  5. Arrived back in Surrey at half past 2 today after choosing the drive along through Harrogate to the A1,50 times better than the M6 route,no holdups whatsoever until we hit the wonderful M25 at the M40 junction. Big thanks to Mik,Mike,Chris and anyone else who had a hand in the organisation of this years run, obviously inspired by the man himself.Sadly missed. Car was brilliant apart from a tired clutch but definitely a weekend to remeber. Now i`m off to re-float my liver. Steve
  6. [quote=Jonny_Jimbo I remember back when there was the Jigsaw race series, almost all Triumphs, and a good mixed bag too. Some of the driving left a little to be desired at times though - very sad to see my friends GT6 punted hard at the Mallory Hairpin. Would be great to see an all-Triumph race again![/quote] That`s why i cant watch the BTCC any more, might as well be driving bumper cars. I will be spectating at Silverstone. S

    oil pump

I got better pressure, especially when hot using a decent oil. I always use Valvoline VR1 in mine. Steve

  9. Here`s what i did to my 13/60 convertible to make it more driveable: 4 into 1 manifold into a modified (standard single box) Vitesse system.Electronic ignition, twin carbs(1500 engine going in soon). I also fitted a 3.63 diff and a single rail overdrive gearbox. These made a lot of difference, the car drives great and will cruise at 70 easily but wont go up a hill in O/D 4th. I wanted to change the brakes for Vitesse spec but missed out on a setup a couple of weeks ago on e-bay. Standard rear spring which is a bit tired but shorter and stiffer front springs. Forgot also Dunlop LP923 steelies with 175/70 tyres. Steve
  10. Booked the OST,decided we might stay until Monday this time,5 hours back on the Sunday night is a pain. Steve
  11. Put us down as provisional if you like,a few things to sort but..probably in my Herald with 1500 engine. Steve
  12. I think you should do a tour of Trump-land in it with that number plate... S
  13. I used Dynaliner under my original cardboard tunnel on the Vitesse,i used evo-stik contact glue just to make sure. http://www.deadening.co.uk/products/dynamat-dynaliner It did make a lot of difference to noise and heat. Steve
  14. I have the same on my White Herald. I think its the tailpipe position and subsequently where the emissions go when the car is moving. Steve
  15. As Andy said,on my first RBRR in 2012 i tried to do too much driving,by Saturday night going towards Oakhampton after many coffees and Pro-plus tablets i was going 30 mph and hallucinating. Luckily Bill Goodwin my co-driver insisted on taking over. Steve
  16. Hope they`ve sorted themselves out this time as 2014 was a complete shambles, that was only 100 or so entries. S
  17. On my 2.5 Vitesse with the same setup i don,t have the second outlet, overflow is by the normal little hole behind a metal tab on top of the float lid.? Steve
  18. I would get the timing checked, when i changed to electronic ignition the dizzy was in a very different position to the points setting for the same timing. Noisy chain shouldn`t make a difference unless its jumped a tooth. Steve
  19. Mine runs on if i use anything other then Shell V power.95 octane is for mowers. Steve

    Bumper Vitesse

Yes there should be box brackets to fill the space between the valance and the alloy bumper,i`ve never seen any though,i just use cylindrical spacers on mine. Steve
  21. Heres an Ash tray i bought from e-bay because it has the dealers plate where my Vitesse came from in 1968.College Motors,Bristol. S
  22. I,ve got a Spit 1300 engined Herald, the Mann filter completely stopped the death rattle on startup.See here: Sorry , link no longer available Steve
