What have you done recently or are planning to do soon to your Triumph?
Steve P replied to Tim Bancroft's topic in General
That`s what I used on my Vitesse with a Saloon O/D box, I made a bracket that bolts on the back of the O/D unit and holds the sensor which points at the propshaft bolts, works great. Steve -
I would recommend Mike too, he refreshed both my cars boxes once i removed them, I met him at the M40 services near Warwick to save me going to Coventry (from Surrey). S

What is the best modification you have made to your car?
Steve P replied to Martins Stag's topic in General
Best mod(s) in my Vitesse CV... 2.5 engine, built by GT. TR5 cam, ported and flowed, properly balanced, Circa 172BHP on the rollers, paddle clutch, saloon gearbox with J type OD, 3.27 diff with Blackline ATB LSD. Ally Rad. Canley trunnionless uprights, 123 Tune dissy, custom prop from Bailey Morris, Mintex 1144 pads. Jones/Bowler CV shafts.Period 5.5J Revolutions. Not all done at once thankfully, owned since October 1985. Steve -
I used Dynaliner in My Vitesse for the tunnel when i put a new moulded carpet set in, did make a difference, but as it`s a convertible I didn`t bother with the floors..as they WILL get wet. Steve

And just as an aside, those air filters are more restrictive than the original. Steve

Hi Chris, Myself and Kath would like to make a comeback after a few years off, probably in my Herald. Please send us a form.Getting on the Hotel list would be good. Steve P

Had silicone in my Herald and Vitesse for at least 10 years, no seal change when swapping, the only failure i had was at MOT time with a rear wheel cylinder failure, but that was only a year or 2 old, I put that down to the pony quality of the cylinders available now. S

Didn`t see you in there Mike C?. Steve

As Rob said, the first one is the plate that goes below the radiator to mount the 2 horns, second one, never seen one on a Herald, looks home made to me. Steve

Finally stripped the front nearside front suspension on my Herald which i believe to have never been off since 1968.Wishbone bushes seized to the bolts and had to be sawn off. Waiting for a few parts to start the rebuild but have refitted powder coated wishbones and Canleys trunnionless uprights, and 4 pot calipers. Steve -
I may have Herald seats in my lockup as i put Vitesse seats in my 13/60,i will have a look tomorrow. Where in the country are you?. Steve

I did a Wales tour in my Valencia Vitesse, couldn`t remember the year but it could have been 2014.I remember having an unscheduled stop when a loose brake bolt started contacting the rotating disc, Beans stopped to see if i needed help. Great tour though, i remember the lanes where there was a wooden gate every couple of hundred yards, had to jump out and open/close them in the P***ing rain. Steve

1964 Mini minor 850cc with floor start button when i was 16,never even got it on the road (legally), as in my mind, I thought I could do a handbrake turn into my mums garage, it didn`t happen because the handbrake was rubbish and i was going too fast. Ended up demolishing next doors brick gatepost and wrecking the front end of the mini. Steve

I am in TW20 and have a Herald and a Vitesse if you want to have a look. Steve

lining up gearbox to engine to refit on Vitesse
Steve P replied to Dave Clasper's topic in Drivetrain
When i was wrestling my Saloon o/d box into my 2.5 Vitesse on my own,i used 2 unf studs about 10 inches long, made it much easier. S -
Scotland will probably still be in Covid restrictions if Queen Nicola deems it. S

Not a GT6,but if you are planning on a 2.5 conversion,i have a tuned 2.5 in my Vitesse with a saloon o/d box and 3:27 diff, built by Mike Papworth with a stronger carrier(TR7?),i find it a great combo, too old for No.11 starts but driven enthusiastically. Steve

Thank god i won`t be around long enough to be forced to turn my lovely 2.5 Vitesse into a soul-less electric hair dryer in order to comply with some bonkers cobblers that won't make a goose fart of difference to "climate change" S

Personal experience with my 2.5 Vitesse build: Spec is...originally a PI engine. +20 bore,-10 crank grind,Vitesse flywheel with spigot added, nitrided crank, everything properly balanced and matched.Paddle clutch. Modded oil pump.Head work and HS6 long inlet manifold flowed and matched (by GT).HS6 Short pot carbs. Mike the Pipe 6-3-1 into custom made exhaust from the manifold back by Mat Simpson.(Ex BTCC) TR5 Cam,Compression 10:1,standard 6 dizzy at present but i have a mappable 123 USB version to go in. Saloon box with J type o/d and 3.27 diff.Custom prop with 100mm flanges. RR session when run in made 172 BHP,can`t remember the torque figure,i have the printout somewhere. Drives great with bags of grunt and torque at low revs, over 30 to the gallon on a run easily. I only run on it Shell V power which is getting expensive but for the mileage it does no bother. I use Valvoline VR 1 oil, always holds good pressure. No knowledge of saloons but mine ate a driveshaft in Cornwall on the 2012 RBRR,CV`d it after that. Still great after 20`000 miles since built. RBRR 2021 - the feedback thread
Steve P replied to Jason's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
My Vitesse failed in 2012 when the shaft snapped at the woodruff key in the hub and the wheel departed with the brake drum still attached, was that avoidable?. S -
Bond seats in my Vitesse on original runners,i am 6 foot 1, really like them, not tried sleeping in it though. Steve
-
those modern repro ones don`t have the metal divider between the 2 bulbs,i saw Colin Lindsay made some out of a chocolate tin on his ones. S
