  1. I've not done much either. Still awaiting the return of the newly rebuilt engine from the engineer.  ;)
  2. Now decided to switch cars, so.......... Complete engine change on Gertie up to a 2.5 and sort out that confounded vibration over 70mph.  :-/ The engine swap also needs to be fitted in inbetween the Santa Special rally on Dec 18th and the Essex rally on Jan 15th.   ;D

Sort the brakes, new master cylinder, calipers and hoses. Replace collapsing engine mount. Fix leaky diff. Hopefully all this will be done before the HCR so I can get some miles on it. Other nice-to-have would be alternative seats with headrests, not worried about originality but don't want anything too bulbous and sofa-like. Anyone fitted MX5 seats to a Stag? Russell. (oh ... and start piggy bank saving for fuel!) Russell, Speak to Floyd regarding seats- 3 series BMW coupe seats. An easy fit apparently?
  4. While the RBRR fever is among us I thought I'd start the usual thread. So come on, who's got what to do?????  :) I'll start it off. First choice car (yellow Peril) Cure the vibration on the nearside front that comes in at 30-40mph while accelerating and decelerating Cure the vibration that occurs everywhere at 70mph fit new tyres all round after knackering them on the autosolo. fit a CD player Replace shock absorbers (and maybe springs too?) fix power steering leak finish eradicating the rust (the bits you can see anyway  ;)) finish body work and respray. I'm sure there will be other bits that will break or fall off in between now and next October so I'll just add them to the list as I go along.  ;D

  6. My list will be the same as this year minus the front wheel bearings (I've used them!) and whatever I use on the Nachtrit this weekend!  ;D
  7. Sorry I missed your call earlier Mike. Can't make this one I'm afraid. Need to change the diff on Gertie!  :)
  8. I know the South of France has been mentioned................. 8)
  9. ferny wrote:That was certainly fun. :) Your car would still have looked better with a caravan behind it!  ;D Seriously Peter, you did well.  :)

  12. Anyone coming past the Reading area on the Sunday morning that can transport me to Bovingdon? I have an overnight function to go and dont have a lift back  :-/
  13. Bring food and drink. There's nothing there! You could try for one of Peter Jackson's Peanut butter sandwiches, but I wouldn't hold out much hope on that one!  ;)
  14. My improvements and corrective measures (If I was on the same run  again) would be...... Fit a bigger radiator, swap the viscous fan for a manual one and fit an elctric fan.  :o Possibly fit a Rover P6 'boot lid type' spare wheel carrier so I can carry two spare wheels!  ;D I did think that the standard 2000 engine in the 'big saloon' struggled a bit up the climbs as well, but then fitting a 2500 probably might not give me the excellent fuel economy I acheived?  8)

  16. Something to get us in the mood! 🙂 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XumwjjxB8IU&feature=fvst Shamelessly stolen from the Shedtune channel!
  17. Entry going off today. I'm flying the 'big saloon' flag.  8) There's also rumours of an estate going, which will be entertaining!  ;D
  18. Dave was filming over Dartmoor but I never realised at the time and after making derogatory comments about a knob in a four wheel drive , driving with mobile phone in one hand, camera in the other hand and getting pickle out of a jar for his sandwich with a certain part of his anatomy, we decided not to show it! 😀 (But might if it meets demand  !)
