  2. As soon as Christmas is over, start sticking a fiver or tenner away in a biscuit tin (Or similar) each week. Then come October you already have your petrol money for the run. It's a big hit in one weekend otherwise.  :) We did about £500 in my 2.6 saloon last year.

He fitted it and played on the laptop whilst I was driving. I dont understand it as well as he does.  :B And I've told you before Dave.... it's GERTIE!!!!  ;D

  5. She should move to Basildon now she looks like that. She'd fit right in.  :)
  6. Can we stop this thread drift and go back to talking about girls breasts?  :)
  7. You say the carbs have been rebuilt, but have you checked to see if they BOTH recieving (and supplying) fuel? The symptons sound similar to only running on one carb. Pull the first three plug leads off one at the time, then do the same to the second three. If there's no difference on one set, Then one carb isnt doing its job. The car will still run well on tickover on only one carb
  8. Sorry Nic but I agree with Richard. If you really want the car to be saved you'll take a cut and let it be saved. You've already been told how rare it is. Scrapping it would make you no better than someone buying it for racing it and smashing it to death. 🙁

  10. 1555 wrote:soon there wont be any triumph`s left,,,cos people are scrapping them,so wots the point You're the only person I know who's scrapping one that's still MOT'd and driveable. Yours is very rare car too. You wont win many friends or gain much respect if you do scrap a perfectly good car Nick. Why have you not advertised it as a complete car for sale on ebay rather than saying that you are breaking it????
  11. Bored of central Europe now. I'd prefer something different. Poland, Romania etc.  :)
  12. sparky_spit wrote:Tristan and I spent some time touring Grenoble's red light district - does that count? I commented that there seemed to quite a few young ladies around and they must be very cold, walking home from the clubs at 02:30 in such skimpy dresses; and why were they hanging around and not getting home more quickly? Then we saw Mr Impatient parked up talking with one of the "ladies" and the penny dropped! Having kerb-crawled that road 3 times, stopping every now and again, it's a wonder that we didn't get arrested. My only defence is that I'm a simple country boy and only rarely venture into the big cities.... You wouldn't have got arrested Mike. It's legal out there. Erm...so I'm told.  :-/ I'm surprised at you kerb crawling with Tristan with you though. Weren't you worried he might have told Janice?  ;D

  14. I would also like to thank the team for organising such a fantastic event. Great views, great scenery and some great driving roads. Also thanks to Darren sharp for his company and for the use of his chariot which was extremely reliable. Well done to all those that took part especially Team Torpedo who we had a great night in Calais with. Not being allowed to go to our rooms until we had helped them finish a bottle of 'Monkey Shoulder' whiskey was highly entertaining.  ;D

  16. Now how about this? Think of the spares you could carry.  :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Standard-Vanguard-phase-3-pick-up-ute-/261277200353?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3cd555afe1
  17. Maybe I'm missing something here Nik but given the choice of changing a head gasket or a gearbox, I'd go for the head gasket every time. I can understand your frustration as I've had the cylinder head off the red car twice recently. I think as it stands now the car isn't worth much at all as any potential buyer would have an additional cost of trailering the car home. If you sort the head gasket out, it will be a far more attractive purchase and you will get more money for it. If I lived closer I'd even come and help you change it myself.
  18. A head gasket set from CW is about £80 inc postage. Do you really need to go through all the hassle of a gearbox change to cover £80?? Having a NON-overdrive gearbox would also lower the value of the car.
  19. So are you selling it as a non-runner Nik? I think I would have been inclined to at least get it running first to try and get a bit more money back. Look at the link below. This was running, MOT'd and driveable and still only fetched

Who's car were you doing then? I thought you were working on yours?
  23. Shame. Davemate and I have been blasting about in the Red Shed tonight. It's a great car. Now. 🙂
  24. Nik, stop sulking and get it done. You've got the parts, now get it on the road. Once you do you'll remember how much you enjoy driving it again. 🙂 I've said the same thing with the Red Shed a few times now, but nothing beats that feeling when it all comes together. 😎
