I never had a problem with my stickers (Although I was the only member of Team Spotlight who never.) I peeled mine off the backing sheet and soaked them in a bowl of clean soapy water before sticking them to some magnetic sheeting. I then waited for them to dry and then cut round them. They stayed on all the way round and for the home journey too.

Thanks Danny, I managed to finally fill up today. I had to use two garages due to the £35 limit, but at least I can get to the start and at least Wetherby now. My co-driver managed to get fuel as well to get to the start as well, so we're looking good. Steve

Ok noted, I was told it was availability. However, it makes no difference because there is still no fuel available around here at all and my co-driver in Derby is in the same boat. So at present, neither of us can even get to the start, let alone set out on the run. My car has under quarter tank and unless things change dramatically over the 24 hours we are out of the event.

Just to give you an idea of what I'm up against, the screen shot is from the Waze app. The red at the top of the boxes means there is NO fuel. Orange means they are running low. Green means they have some, but the one green box on here states that it was last updated 421 days ago. And I know for a fact that the garage has been closed for over a year. Here's hoping I can get some before Friday.

just because it's starting to ease in your area doesn't mean it's easing everywhere. My local Tesco and BP garages haven't had fuel since Saturday and I had to resort to borrowing a van from work last night just to get home. Things still look very grim in my area (Leigh On Sea, Essex) and at present my co driver from Derby cannot even guarantee getting to my place or the start. Things really need to get better by Friday.

Don't forget to put relays on your head/spot lights if you havent already.

Good to see it again Peter. It's been a while since the HOF blasted past me on these events.

It needs to calm down before next weekend. A lot of people will be travelling on Thursday, especially the foreign contingent. (As well as my co-driver from Derby who under present conditions couldn't even get to me!) I suspect the RBRR committee will have a decision to make by Wednesday at the latest.

I think there was more than one retirement last time due to this. The BP Garages do a BP Ultimate in petrol and diesel. The diesel pump nozzle is blue rather than the usual black. The petrol ultimate nozzle is green. Stay away from the blue nozzle!

I think starting the event would only count if you made it outside Knebworth. 😂

Team Spotlight (Entries 18, 101 & 140) finally managed to get all three cars together for the first time at the drivers meeting on Saturday. (We live in Essex, Hertfordshire and Worcestershire, so its not been easy with Covid restrictions) We met at a cafe in Banbury for breakfast first then travelled in convoy to Gaydon. I have to say, a convoy of three Mk1's running together certainly got some looks on the M40. Roll on Friday 1st!

Now fitted with its new 15 x7 Minilite wheels. I think they finish it off a treat. 🙂

I wouldn't have thought that E10 is going to wreck your car over the course of 2000 miles. Especially when it's probably going to be mixed with existing E5 petrol that's already in your tank. I have to admit to being very sceptical of it all having heard similar scaremongering when the dreaded unleaded petrol was supposed to sound the death knoll as well.

It'll be my first time in this particular car, although a lot of the bits in it have participated several times before. This will now be my sixth RBRR and I still get as excited as I did on my first. 🙂

Not much to do now, but I have been very busy over the past two months or so. New big ends, new oil pump, new crankshaft pulley (Stirling Rattler), new Koni adjustable front shocks, new steering rack and polyurethane bushes, new track rod ends, new ball joints, polyurethane drag strut bushes and track control arm bushes, 14 inch electric fan fitted, radiator re-cored and new seat belts fitted. Just awaiting delivery of a new alternator and that's me finished now. Looking forward to the run very much and really missed it last year.

Agree with Richard Warr on Western Turdville as we called it. Felt that it was an unnecessary 'out of the way' control after 2 days without sleep. The drive from there to Knebworth wasn't fun either and seemed to take ages.  Echo the comments of others as well that the catch up time on Sunday if having problems can be a real issue. If we'd have known we were going to be in the queue for brekky at Lands End for 40 mins, we'd have skipped it and cracked on. (It wasn't really worth the wait anyway) Brilliant event still though, and we (both cars) had already decided Sunday night that we were all up for it again in 2020.  Preferred the event when it was around the 100 car mark, although on this one we were running so far behind all the time that the queues at the controls didn't affect us much. (Except LE) P.s. Wetherby to Skiach without a coffee stop was hard too-will bring a flask next time)  =)   Other than that, still a fantastic event and wouldn't miss it for the world.       

I plan on using the Wedgewood 2000 Mk1 for the next one, so at present, just sort out some decent wheels & tyres.
