  1. 165's should fit fine. I always ran my Vitesses on them with no problems. Cheers, Dave. Ps I run my 13/60 on 5J alloys with 165/80s . No problem.
  2. Yes, correct, but what about the later swing spring Gt6? Cheers, Dave.
  3. it's easy if someone has already modified the tank to remove the drain plug.
  4. Hi Rustbuckit. Problem with MGF seats is even worse on a convertible! Dave (oldmetalhead82) knows, cos I sold him my MGF seats! He's a bit smaller than me. Cheers, Dave.
  5. Has  someone doubled up the main output cable to cope with the increased amperage?
  6. Have MX5 seats in mine. Tried MGF seats but they are too wide to go far enough back (I'm 6ft 4in tall!). However, I think the MGF seats are more comfortable than MX5, if you can get them in. Cheers, Dave.
  7. There is supposed to be a bridging wire on the universal joint at the bottom of the steering column!
  8. Don't know what book you've got, but the sliding joint should be at the diff end. Cheers, Dave.

as far as I know 1500 Spits had twin HS4 1.5inch for the British market.
  10. Exactly right, Pete, and succinctly displayed. Cheers, Dave.
  11. Why bother changing the seals...just don't overgrease. I have the same problem on my 13/60, ended up with a brake drum full of grease, cleaned it out and it's ok. Cheers, Dave.
  12. Sounds as though the inner oil seals have been fitted the wrong way round. On swing axle models the lips of the inner seal should face the diff, so that excess grease comes out towards the diff and not into the brake drum. Cheers, Dave.
  13. On the Mk2 the pressure is definitely NOT off when the wheels are off the ground. You need the recommended tool to take the spring pressure to be able to remove the spring eye bolts. That releases the spring pressure, then you can remove the diff. top mounting plate. Cheers, Dave.
  14. You can get an acceptable substitute from Vehicle Wiring Products. They list two. I'm using the plastic version on my 13/60. Been installed for 2 years now with no problems.
  15. I have a 13/60 saloon J reg, big crank GK engine. I have fitted a 1500 Spit flywheel, clutch and overdrive gearbox. It's great. It needed the od box, 1500 flywheel, bolt sleeves to fit the flywheel to the crankshaft (from Rimmers), 1500 clutch, larger than 13/60 original ( no bad thing) , modified propshaft from Canley Classics, appropriate rear gearbox mounting, and od switching mechanism. I use the switch in the gear lever method but you can use the column mounted switch as per the Vitesse if you prefer. The advantages are a higher first gear and lower revs at cruising speed, so less noise and better fuel consumption, typically 35 to 36mpg for my 13/60. I tend to thrash her.
  16. To get back to the original point... Yes, the 2000 inlet manifold is slanted to allow for the engine being canted over whereas the Vitesse manifolds are flat/horizontal.
  17. A Vitesse flywheel is considerably lighter than that from a 2000 saloon.
  18. Because of the cant, the sump is different on a 2000 saloon. It is also canted. Vitesse/GT6 sumps are horizontal.
  19. Hi Jagger. Standard size thrust washers will probably bring the clearance to within tolerance. They are not expensive any way! Cheers, Dave.
  20. Been there, done that. Sleeves are available from Rimmer. No problem in the last 2 years. Also I think a bigger clutch is better on the 13/60s 73 lbs/ft of torque ( same as a Mk 4 Spit). Cheers, Dave.
  21. If you swap to the 1500 Spit flywheel you can use the bigger 7.25 inch clutch of the 1500 Spitfire.
  22. Rad is different, but rad mounts are on 13/60 chassis, but front valance is cut away a bit on Vitesse , to clear rad. Wishbone brackets are available, handbrake cable guides are different, on chassis on 13/60 but on body on Vitesse, rear shock arrangement can be fixed with telescopic conversion kit. Cheers, Dave.
  23. Thanks Mark and Pete, you've confirmed what I thought. Shouldn't be any play, so no point overhauling Ujs. I'll get a new prop via Dave Pearson at Canley Classics. Cheers, Dave.
  24. Hi folks. I am now looking at my Vitesse mk2 propshaft in the ongoing saga of my Vitesse rebuild. Before I rebuild the Ujs, how much or how little radial play should there be in the sliding spline joint? I can feel distinct play in mine. Cheers, Dave.
