  1. The gasket has a tab at the back so it is for a recessed block. Can't tell from the picture whether the block is recessed or not.
  2. Hi Wimpus. You need the proper hub puller and they are expensive. Try TSSC shop or Canley Classics, but they cost about £65. Cheers, Dave.
  3. I run my 13/60 on 5 inch by 13 inch minilite replicas with 165/80 Uniroyals and have no clearance problems. Cheers, Dave.
  4. My first car was a 1963 Herald 1200. The front drum brakes were twin leading shoe ( ie. 2 slave cylinders on each side) each slave cylinder needing adjusting via an eccentric cam (usually seized). The system was a bloody nightmare and unreliable. I ran it for about 18 months the traded it in against a new 13/60 in 1969. What a difference!
  5. Fit  bonnet locks. Solves the problem and stops some evil minded b*****d getting into your engine bay!. Cheers, Dave.
  6. Hi Wimpus. You need a puller to get the bearing off the shaft. Once you have done that you can replace the oil seal. With the front pinion oilseal you have a problem. If it is fitted with a collapsible spacer then do not re torque it to the quoted figure, because that will wreck it and require a diff overhaul to sort it out!. I believe the technique is to Mark the nut before removal and count the exact turns required to remove it, and on re-assembly replicate the exact number of turns to refit the nut. Cheers, Dave.
  7. Hi Anderoo. Try Vehicle Wiring products item A420 Universal choke cable. It may be what you are looking for. Cheers, Dave.
  8. I put 5 inch by 13 inch alloys on my 13/60, fitted with 165/ 80 Uniroyal tyres. It's amazing how well it handles. Sticks like glue. Suspension is standard apart from uprated front antiroll bar. Yes I know it's supposed to be a no-no , but I like it! Wind on plenty of lock into the bend, then wind it off when applying power through the bend. Horses for courses. It suits me. Cheers, Dave.
  9. Hi Peterrrc. I posted the question on the Spitfire/GT6 area as well. " replies state that the only breather they know of is on the top plate of the gearbox. I have looked further and there appears to be a (plastic) thingie on top of the gearbox, so maybe that is it. Cheers, Dave.
  10. Hi. Can anyone tell me where the breather(s) are located on a Single rail gearbox fitted with a J type overdrive? Cheers, Dave.
  11. Hi. Can anyone tell me where the breather(s) are located on a Single rail gearbox fitted with a J type overdrive? Cheers, Dave.
  12. As standard they are nit like that! cut for access maybe? not sure about removing them on a 13/60 as they act as radiator supports. Cheers, Dave
  13. What sort of noise ? Please try and describe it.

  15. Thanks for your comments. It sounds like more trouble than it's worth! Cheers, Dave.
  16. Has anyone any experience or advice on fitting the later Spitfire, longer driveshafts to a 13/60? The drive flanges are not a problem, but what needs to be done about the radius arms? . Cheers, Dave.
  17. The Vitesse radiator is taller than that of the 13/60, therefore it sits lower to get it in. A Vitesse front valance has a "bulge" centrally at its lower edge to accommodate the bottom of the radiator, and is also cut away at it's top rear edge to again accommodate the forward fitted radiator.
  18. I have had several small chassis Triumphs in my driving career; 3 heralds, 4 Vitesses ( one of the Vitesses with 150,000 miles on the clock) plus a T 2000 Estate with 104,000 miles  on the clock. None of them had any trouble with the rocker gear. Forget the extra oil feed, change your oil regularly and you're unlikely to have problems.
  19. I second that (both of Clive's comments!)
  20. Hi Tim. I don't know how the catches come apart, and they do seem expensive to buy new. However, they often come up on ebay, or from someone like Spitfire Graveyard in Sheffield. Worth a try? Cheers, Dave.
  21. If it helps, the Magnetronic system on y 13/60 has a ballast resistor and the appropriate coil from Magntronic.
  22. I believe it's the same as the Vitesse. New ones not available, try Quiller Triumph, Wins International, James Paddock, Canley Classics, Chic Doig and anyone else you can think of, and Good luck! Cheers, Dave.
  23. They are most definitely different because of the 7 inch headlights of the 13/60 and the 5.75 inch fitted to the Vitesse. The Vitesse front wings are more expensive than those for the 13/60. Cheers, Dave.
