  1. Fitchetts can provide !3/.60 or Vitesse wings, but as I said... at a price.
  2. Later 1600 was fitted with twin 150cd Stromberg carbs and at the least you would need the correct inlet manifold and air filter set up for them, and you would have to modify the carb fuel feed. Looking at my (very old) Haynes manual, it appears that the 1600 on Strombergs has a hot water pipe going through the manifold (as have all 2 litre models). The Solex manifold doesn't appear to have this system. But this is an old manual and it is trying to cover Vitesse and Gt6 models from 1962 up to the early Mk2 gt6 and Vitesse, so it is a bit vague in places. If this manual would help , Pm me. Cheers, Dave.
  3. Correct for CDS type as fitted to Vitesse mk2. Don't know about CDSE type.
  4. Hi-torque on my 13/60, no problems so far!
  5. That's what I used to think. Bitter experience has convinced me otherwise! Such as, horn sounding when jacking front offside of car; carrying out emergency wiring 30 minutes before an Mot test bcause it suddenly wouldn't work at all.. I did think that I'd solved the problem when fitting an aftermarket steering wheel... but no. So, good luck, and if you find a foolproof way, please let me know, because in principle I agree with you. Cheers, Dave.
  6. Fit a separate switch... the purists will hate it, but it is a lot easier and (almost) foolproof. Saves the embarrassment  of the horn blaring out when it feels like it!
  7. In my 13/60 with 4.11 diff, od 3rd is useful in 30 mph zones; normal 3rd is too low and a bit revvy but od 3rd is ideal.
  8. Wing panels are different because Vitesse headlamps are smaller, but wings are available... at a price!
  9. That should be ok ,Dave. I just have one filter just before the fuel pump. Been ok so far. Cheers, Dave.
  10. Got mine second hand from Spitfire Graveyard. New ones not available, it seems.

If you jack up the bottom of the vertical link, you can undo the UJ flange bolts and the shocker bolts, then if you lower the jack there's no tension left on the spring eye. If you happen to have a lifter anyway (perhaps because you also own a Rotoflex car) then by all means use it, but for a swing axle setup it's most definitely not worth any investment. I do have a Rotoflex car as well, and my spring lifter was made for by my neighbour for £10. He makes his own circuit racing cars! Everyone should have a hobby... He has no interest in classic cars.
  12. The spring lifter, essential on a rotoflex suspension, is quite helpful on the standard swing axle or swing spring for relieving the tension whilst you remove the spring eye bolts or the shock absorber nuts and bolts. Also useful on re-assembly.
  13. My 13/60 has the 3 position light stalk. Fully up is for sidelights only, mid ( ie down one ) is for main beam, fully down is for dipped beam. Hope this helps, cheers, Dave.
  14. Blue/white is the main beam circuit, blue/red is the dipped beam circuit. looks like your manual is coded wrongly in places.
  15. Not sure but I think you need something that you can insert into the end of the tube and screw to grip the inside and then pull it out. A tapered spring with a sharp point perhaps? This is not a lot of help but might nudge a few minds for ideas.
  16. Hi Marcus . Rallyspit is correct . All yokes take the same UJs so you can swap Herald yokes for Spitfire Yokes, or Vitesse or GT6 ... to get the configuration that you  need. I have a 1500 spitfire gearbox and overdrive mated to a 13/60 diff and driveshafts., via a modified propshaft. Spitfire yoke at the gearbox, Herald yoke at the diff. Cheers , Dave.
  17. I've never had a problem with 165s on a 5.5 inch x 13 . Where are they rubbing. If on the top of the wheelarch have you enough adjustment available on the bonnet to raise it slightly to give clearance? Cheers,Dave.
  18. official workshop manuals are great but they assume you are a mechanic and have all the special tools. Haynes manuals are great because they assume you are not a mechanic and that you do not have all the special tools, so they give you step by step instructions plus tips on doing things without all the special tools! I make sure that I have both the official workshop manual and the Haynes manual for my cars. Cheers, Dave.
  19. Also MGF seats in my 13/60. I'm 6 foot 4. No problem.
  20. Try also, Wins International, and Quiller Triumph. Both firms break triumphs and sell the bits. Good luck.
  21. I recall someone saying that type 14 and type 16 refers to the piston diameter in 1/8 inches, so type 14 callipers have pistons of 1 and 3/4 inches dia. and type 16  csallipers are 2 inch dia. A quick way to tell your 14 from your 16 etc.
  22. Try the TSSC shop. Cheers, Dave.
