Thanks. I hate driving past things that look like they might be useful, and in this case it proved correct. No slots in mine. and the narrower section is a purrrrrfect fit on the lower column

What you need is some of this tubing (picked up on the side of the road about seven or so years ago. Two segments fit just nicely between the TC hub and Mk 1 column; even nicer it sits there all by itself in the lower piece and does not rub on the hub. Maybe someone in Australia can identify what/where it came from originally BUT cheap and easy to use. Happy to cut some off and post if really desperate (at your cost naturally - I'm a tight b....st...d!).

If you don't they can hit the back of the wheel; particularly if you try to use standard wheel nuts - you need the thin ones. Been there done that! ??) Actually had to LOOK for a standard wheel nut (none of mine have standard wheels on them anymore). Any guesses why I prefer to run mine on Minilites? :-/

Beware the dreaded O ring! I've had my mixture screw drop out on me (twice!), resulting in copious fuel flow onto the exhaust. :D

Where I used to work we had lots of chains for conveyors, turn-over units, and other mechanical handling aids. After one of the local bikies brought me some samples I was able to assist with chains for Kawasaki 900 and Honda 750 motorcycles which were the hot items at the time. :X

Didn't want my good "spare" 2 litre engine, didn't want my air con unit, BUT I'm still happy to help where/when I can AND most envious of your workmanship. 8)

Oh wow, something's crying dry in there by the sound of it??? Maybe it was really wanting a good wringing out somewhere under load - at least you would have known where the problem was then (if it had broken) - and if not it might have taken the hint and gone away! :B

I knew there was a reason for removing the rear body of the Garden Gnome, ;) and I thought it was so I could clean up the chassis properly!? Dragged out my largest calipers and measured it to be as near as damn it to 260mm Nick. Sure you still don't need the air con unit??? ;)

What a brilliant picture. The bonnet almost looks as though it is transparent, aided by the white reflection aligning with Glen's arm and the top of the windshield. 8)

I'm glad I bought my Herald pump without a pulley attached! Huge saving obviously. Perhaps the pulley is made out of unobtainium?

So that's the answer then? Take the engine out of my Humber, couple it up with the spare engine and I'd have 12 cylinders + 8 litres of very heavy metal. :D

Now come on Ted, that's as silly as me suggesting the Mk IV Humber Super Snipe 4 litre engine that I have laying around spare - almost unbreakable AND so much torque available. Bloody thing is bigger and heavier than the 330 diesel engine that was in my Bedford bus!! :D Not forgetting the Holden Commodore 3.8 litre V6 of course. :B ;) I might also add (whistle)

Definitely unpainted. And yes often rusty. Vaguely recall some tended to look like they had been zinc plated/galvanized, I used a resevoir from a Series Snipe once on one of my cars because it had a low fluid level sensor under the cap. 8)
