Toby G
Hi all,I have a Lotus 7 which has type 12 Herald disc brakes on the front. My problem is the front RH caliper has cracked and I have replaced it with a new one, now the brake pads will not fit back in to the caliper. They barely fit and grind on the disc.Any help or advice would be most appreciated.Toby
roger.england
It sounds like you've been supplied the later larger pads (type 14) . I had the same problem with my car.
herald948
Type 12 pad lining material tapers in slightly at the bottom. Type 14 pad lining material is pretty much as "square" as the backing plate itself. You can also see the difference at the top of the backing plates; Type 12 having more prominent "ears" where the pins go through.
Toby G
Weird thing is, I have replaced the caliper with a new one. So the pads should just go back in....Very strange. Thanks for the idea though.
Nick Jones
Are they tight in the caliper guides or tight between caliper piston and disc?Nick
