junkuser
Whilst checking the front brakes today with car jacked up, took a couple of pictures of the front bumper mounting mods.Did this because the over-riders had cut through the bar that was on the car when purchased so decided to make these spacers when the bar was repaired and re-chromed a couple of years back to prevent it happening again and allow the over-riders to be tightened firmly. Not sure if these cars had some sort of spacer in there when made but this car did not.A piece of water pipe, cut at an angle and a plate welded across the back. Also put heavy plates behind the mounting brackets on the chassis as these brackets were distorted from collisions prior to my purchase. She had had a rough life.Just posted in case it is of interest to anyone. junkuser
Nothing different to see from the front of the car Chris. They just support the bar from the inside where the over-riders clamp on to it.The contour does not match that of the bar perfectly but there is contact in the critical places where the over-rider exerts pressure on the upper and lower edges of the bar. There is no distortion of the bar.
