Door Trim removal

Does anyone know how to remove the stainless steel trim running along both doors  and underneath the C pillar without breaking the clips that hold them in place.

Or how easy are the clips to replace if they are broken?

I thought you could slide it off ... if it's the bit I remember removing from a Mk1.
I also seem to recall that you don't actually need all of the clips, so can reposition those that don't get broken?

The book say they come off if levered carefully ( but they always say that don't they :) )

Yes lever off, carefully with a screwdriver.

As the clips are plastic and may well be old, you will probably break some. Chris Witor stocks them, they are one-shot and push into small holes in the bodywork like the plastic brake pipe clips .
