MSter
Hi AllI have been looking at the wiring loom in my triumph Herald and it is pretty bad insulation round wires has gone brittle and crumbled away exposiong wires and now have a nice layer of crust/rust on them.Has anyone made up their own and if so are there any recommendations?? Im a lift engineer by trade and regularly make up huge looms i have a very good selection of crimping tools and crimps. Has anyone done this before or is it just easier to buy a loom?? if so whats the rough cost of a new loom??Regards
timraven
The cheapest place I found for a new loom for my Spit was David Manners in Brum, was £177 for both parts. Rimmers and Canleys were priced about a hundred quid more. Give em a ring because their website is crap.Good luck!
JamieY
After having to buy Lucas replacement loom smoke twice, I decided to get a modern loom made by my local auto sparky.Full loom done for around 300 GBP (600NZD).Much neater than the old loom, fused properly and no old control box.Would highly recommend this route
Steve Cureton
If you're used to making up looms then I would make your own, at least then you know it's done to your standards, and of course it will be cheaper.
Rustee
If you make your own loom up it's a good opportunity to include wiring for future accessories like fog lamps, ICE, kill switch and heated seats and include them in the main core of the loom so it will look nice too. MSter
dont suppose anyone has an old loom laying about that they no longer want or need that i can use as a pattern??
Steve Cureton
Ah, I had assumed you had the old one as a pattern. In that case I would be more inclined to buy a new one, unless you're not bothered about it looking original.
MSter
I have the original but its in such a bad way im cautious about removing it and using it as a pattern.
