thescrapman
Your best bet is probably one of the nice and cheap land-rover ones.Do a search in the archives and it should reveal the source. If you still have the original dissy, then you need one for a 45D4Cheers
Spider
Here you go for budget system. http://www.mm-4x4.com/britpart-electronic-conversion-kit-2720-p.aspother end of the range would be.123 distributor.http://www.scparts.co.uk/index/lang-2/lkz-195/markenid-5/katnr-183/kat_sprache-2/lang-2/hrubnr-1560/rubrik-4764/functiontpl-virtueller_katalog.tpl,x-a.htmprogramable...http://trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/d28.htmlor go the whole hog and add fuel injection too...http://trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/d31.htmlAll the best.Spider. tjmtaylor
Will that 1st one be good for high revving #racing
trackerjack
Lumenition. If you are thinking of even track days let alone racing your engine hates revs and has no power so perhaps a change of car would be better, sorry but true.

tjmtaylor
I'm wanting to put a mx5 engine in but need the driver gear #driveshaft :)
Toledo Man
Jon, you are right in that the 1500 lump doesn't like to rev "out of the box". If the engine is balanced it will run better. There's a guy on the TDC forum (some of you will know who I mean) who can work his magic on these engines.Getting back on topic, I'd definitely second the budget system. I fitted one on a Sprint dizzy on my 1850 and I haven't had to touch it since aside from small adjustments of the timing. Worth every penny. trackerjack
Ok I admit that its possible to "improve a 1500" and as I am an engineer I find modifications easy if time consuming.
sparky_spit
Mik Davies gets his race Spitfire 1500 reving well enough. When I was chatting to him once, discussing his engine and how well it revs, I was convinced he must be talking about a small crank 1300 but, no, it is a well engineered 1500. I forget exactly what his redline is set at, but it is in racing 1300 territory with good power right up to the limit.
