2 holes for A post courtesy light switch?

Just below the courtesy light switch and above the door check strap in my car there's another hole. It has a blanking plug fitted and a self tapping screw just underneath it too. I'm guessing this was something for the USA models that we never had? Strangely I only have one on the passenger side, there's no matching one on the drivers side A post.

559061 looks like it would probably fit the bill but I can't figure out what that does from the parts book. it says SWITCH LOCK ILLUMINATION. switch for a 'door open' light or doors left unlocked light maybe? strange that I only have one if thats the case.

think I might use it to add a grommet to feed central locking wires through.

i think it,s for a warning light to tell you you have left your lights on . it only lights when the door is open and lights on .

Perhaps the second switch would have been for the key buzzer on US models, to remind one upon exiting the vehicle that he/she has left the key in the ignition.
