Stuart Wilson
I've a sprint engine fitted in my TR7. The front of the engine has always had a little mist of oil on it but noticed recently it's getting worse so thinking time to do the front crank oil seal.Is there anything I need to be aware of when changing this or is it just a simple one out one in sort of job? dolomiteman
You'll have to take off the timing gear, so a timely operation would be inspect and consider replacement. However, make yourself aware of the issues surrounding timing tensioner quality, along with curved guides being seemingly unavailable at the moment. I think Robsport do a kit with curved guides though .
nang
Make sure the seal running surfaces are not scored . you may need to replace this as well as the seal.Tony.
Beans
No need to remove the timing cover or timing gear when you want to replace the front crank seal:http://tr7beans.blogspot.nl/2013/05/preparing-t-kreng-for-iae.html
Stuart Wilson
Quoted from Beans No need to remove the timing cover or timing gear when you want to replace the front crank seal:http://tr7beans.blogspot.nl/2013/05/preparing-t-kreng-for-iae.html As always very good helpful advice, I shall get an oil seal ordered up and get it done at some point over the next few weeks
dolomiteman
Silly me, I was thinking bottom pulley, but visualising bottom sprocket; Of course you don't need to remove the timing gear!
