pete nettleton Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 hi.can anyone tell me if i can remove the inlet manifold on my 1300 toledo without removing the exhaust manifold.thanks pete Quote
Amy Wade Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 You could, but you'll still need to remove the exhaust manifold to replace the gasket as it is one gasket for both inlet and exhaust. Quote
pete nettleton Posted June 15, 2022 Author Posted June 15, 2022 i have taken the bolts out of inlet manifold but cant get it off there is two nuts that i can see under the inlet that i cant get to and didnt know if these held both manifolds on Quote
Nick Jones Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Single or twin carbs? On the twins there are vertical two bolts from below that fasten the two manifolds together, though quite often missing now. Are these the bolts you mean or the horizontal nuts/studs that hold the manifolds to head? There are four of those which tighten against clamping pieces which hold both manifolds. Nick Quote
pete nettleton Posted June 15, 2022 Author Posted June 15, 2022 its single carb it the two nuts right under inlet manifold the inlet comes away from head at the top but not at bottom im trying to change head gasket by taking exhaust manifold off with exhaust still attached as the bolts on joint are rusted and dont want to sheer them Quote

Four along the top (one each side of each pair of inlet tracts) and two underneath (with the longer clamps). Quote
pete nettleton Posted June 16, 2022 Author Posted June 16, 2022 i cannot get a spanner or socket in to get the lower two nuts off Quote
Clive Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I have used a 3/8 socket with a uj and extension bar (or maybe axahort and longer bar?) But it can be done. Just a faff. Quote
yorkshire_spam Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I found a land-rover propshaft bolt socket (slightly special tool) useful for the lower manifold clamp nuts: Old Blog Post Quote
