TimW
Hi allO.K. the engine is now back in and i have set the timing to 10 deg using a timing light. I am using a delco dizzy from my 2.0l on a 2.5 with 1 3/4 su's, tr5 cam, almost 10:1 compression and 6.3.1 manifold. I know that the ignition curve may well be way out so i thought i should time it up at full advance? any ideas? what should i time it at at full advance? Also any ideas on required carb needle? The su's are standard dolly sprintThanks :) :)
tiggrr1
I suppose you can only try it on the road Tim and see how it runs/performs.The only thing I can suggest as a starting point is to advance the timing a bit at a time untill it starts pinking and then back it off a couple of degrees. After that as you say its down to modifying the advance curve to suit with different springs and/or bob weights or get your megasquirt box on and just use the ignition side of it untill your ready for the squirty side too :-/
Nick Jones
Total advance something like 28 - 30º at 4000 rpm ish. Suggest you take a look at the curve for a TR5/early TR6 - that is likely to be the closest to correct.Nick
