Best paint for windscreen / bonnet trim

I've removed and tidied up the black trim between the screen and the bonnet, and now need to repaint it. I'm thinking of a satin black; was this the original colour? I don't think it was gloss but have no idea what it was originally, mine was badly faded and a bit rusty, so may be incorrect.

It's a long time since I had a TR7 but I'd be very surprised if that trim was ever gloss. Satin black would be the correct colour, I would think, or perhaps even matt (although some matt black paint comes out looking grey so choose carefully).

I have seen them done in body colour or even chromed but think should be matt black.

Thanks guys; I think myself that gloss is too shiny. It's currently sprayed in a matt black primer over grey which is quite a nice shade, but I may try satin first as an experiment and revert to matt if that's not quite right.

I don't think I fancy chromed.... :)

It indeed should be satin black. I have used a mixture of 50% gloss and 50% matt for all black trim on my '76 FHC I am currently restoring, including the rear light panel:

I sprayed mine in satin black, just used an aerosol can, that was about 4 years ago and still looks okay 😉

Mines got the first coat on and looks ok too, am going to spray the second coat shortly. It's a vast improvement on the colour it was when I bought the car...
