Adrianb
I was sorting the workshop out trying to find some brake pipe spanner’s so after completely tidying the place I started on m’Dads tool box and found this implement! Can anyone please tell me it’s use.It has the word Draper Tool Number1 on it! The Padster is sniffing out any clues!
Rosbif
I recall my dad having something the same or very similar. I don't remember what it was for though.
Clive
I have seen one, probably in my dads toolbox. I have always assumed it was for undoing plugs with a square recess. But we all know what assumptions are like.
Tim Bancroft
That is exactly what they were used for...I think my Dad had one as well.....weird!
Adrianb
Seems like we need someone’s Dad to confirm! As for my spanner’s I didn’t find them as my son in law had borrowed them and omitted to tell me plus he had lost the 10/12 mm one I really wanted! sparky_spit
Yes, definitely a tool for undoing diff/gearbox/sump plugs. I have one, inherited from my Dad as above... Quote
Auldman
It is a drain plug spanner.
standardthread
More likely for plumbing to remove plugs from radiators etc.

mikeyb
Yep I have one identical. Some sumps, gearboxes, diffs etc have fill/drain plugs that have a square recess in them, needing a square peg key to undo etc. The draper one fits a variety of sizes. If you were very lucky and had a half inch or 3/8 one, a ratchet/extension would do the same job!
