Hogie Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Hi Folks, does a H4 bulb fit into an older BPF reflector socket?Roger Quote
John Bonnett Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 It's the same fitting as a sealed beam if that's of any help. Quote
poppyman Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Quoted from Hogie Hi Folks, does a H4 bulb fit into an older BPF reflector socket?Roger You can still buy halogen bulbs that fit that type of reflector, the H4 normally has 3 locating pins, it will fit the socket but not the reflector. Cheers, Tony.PS, Manners sell them. Quote
Nick Jones Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 You are probably better off getting the complete halogen conversion kits as the reflectors and lenses will be engineered to suit the halogen bulbs. Cibie/Valeo tend to be the best and priced accordingly. I've had decent results from Ring and Wipac though and they are very reasonably priced.Halogen or not, headlamp wiring via relays located near the lights (and nice fat wires to the relays) make a huge difference and stop the smoke escaping from your column switch as well 🙂Nick Quote
Hogie Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 Thanks chaps, that appears to have summed it up nicely. I'll pass this onto my chum. The question arose when my friend asked a supplier what he needed to upgrade his TR3 lighting. He was a little shocked at what was needed.Simply upgrading the bulb (from BPF ot H4) is not the way to go.Roger Quote
thescrapman Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Euro Car Parts have the Cibie ones on special occasionally.Well worth the money Quote
