Piero franchi
AS it says, Do I or dont I put the 1500 spit diff into my GT6 mk1.It has a original spec engine, with overdrive.Funny enough, I have NEVER driven it!!!!!!!!!!!I bought it as a non runner, it turned out to only be the feed to the coil that was cut, but as it was in my work shop, I started tinkering, and well, now it is in lots of bits.So having never driven a GT6 mk1, I need your help (from some one who has)Do I, dont I fit a 1500 3.6 ratio diff??????????Thanks
Nick Jones
Sure, Why not? Good conversion.. Gives slightly longer legged cruising without compromising acceleration much. Also reputed to be stronger than the 3.89 and definitely stronger than the 3.27.I have one in my Vitesse and like it.I should throw in the swing spring while you're at it too.Nick
Richard B
With Overdrive yes; without (bit of a sprinter). Little bit taller than a 3.89 and will give more relaxed motorway driving and it's a stronger diff.I have a 3.63 in my PI Spitfire, but that has a 2500 engine and 14'' wheels & with 195 x 65 tyres to accomodate the rev range of the 2.5. Piero franchi
Thanks guysWhat is the GT6 mk1 like with the standard diff 3.89 and overdrive.also does the Mk1 rev the highest (in standard form) of all the GT6s
Deleted User
The earliest MK1s had the capability to rev higher and longer than Mk2 stype engines, due to larger bearings. But later MK1s had the same size mains as t'othersKC5000 was the change I think?
