Pete Arnold
Did Triumph put any external stamping on their diffs to identify the ratio?I am asking because my MkI Vitesse has a 3.63 diff from a 1500 Spitfire and I am currently having the chassis changed. The donor chassis, which is from a 13/60 Herald, came with a diff which I presume is 3.89.I would really like to be able to confirm this so that I can decide whether or not to keep it as a spare. Thanks in advance for any advice,Pete
Clive
There is a number stamped on the underside of the diff.http://www.canleyclassics.com/?xhtml=xhtml/infodatabase/diff.html&xsl=infodatabase.xslEasiest way to be sure is to mark the input flange, then turn the output shafts together (important)One full turn of the output shafts, count exactly how many turns of the input.Alternatively hold one output shaft still, turn the other 2 complete turns. Same result.
