Mj17
Replace the trailing arm bushes and check the condition of the drive shaft splines I thought to my self. There are instructions on the 2000 Register site that make it sound straight forward I thought to my self......and simple enough it was - very simple in my case as BOTH the brake drum screws were missing... until the "You are now ready to withdraw the hub...". I may have been ready but it sure as hell wasn't ready to come out!I've even tried unbolting the drive shaft from the diff. to take the whole lot out but it's not showing any inclination on leaving the alloy suspension carrier.Any tips on getting it out? Richard B
Hammer and light taps with a chisel between the flange and brake back-plate. You'll probably find it's stuck on with corrosion. Alternatively split the two halfs of the shaft as you have already unbolted it from the diff and then use a copper/hide hammer to tap the outer part of the half shaft (quarter shaft?) Lord Sorbington
At least it means that all the grease hasn't run out of your wheelbearings.......
Mj17
OK, eventually got the hub off, replaced the bushes and... decided the inner UJ has seen better days (smooth and easy one way, stiff and notchy the other). Shame I didn't order a couple when I ordered everything else.Anyone know if the drive shaft UJs (specifically the inner but I think they are both the same) are the same as anything on the road today (and so easy to pick up)?Spitfire prop. joints are the same as Freelander ones but do 2000 drive shafts have a similar, go to the part counter not have to wait for them to come through the post from a specialist application?Cheers,Mj17
Lord Sorbington
Got mine from Fitchetts. Some sort of cross reference tables would handy for things like this as most motor factors nowadays have never heard of a Triumph 2000.
