A chunk of my upgrading involves changing all the seals to facilitate a move to silicone fluid!What to do now? Perhaps go ahead with the planned seal/cylinder changes, fill with dot 4 fluid, then flush and refil with silicone upon return?Advice welcome! Beans Posted August 24, 2007 Share Posted August 24, 2007 I did use silicon brake fluid on 't Kreng for it's first few years after it's rebuilt, can only say don't use it. Use a good quality DOT4 or DOT 5.1 instead and change approx. once a year to avoid moisture getting in. Silicon gives a rather nasty vague feeling in the pedal.
