hiyasexy
Will a 1978 no overdrive gearbox fit my June 1976 Spitfire. The seller isn't certain.
glang
well overdrive and non overdrive boxes are definitely different (although can be swopped with the right bits) but the same type in those two 1500 models will be identical. A further confirmation is the selection of reverse gear where on both the lever should be moved to the right and forward as opposed to left and back on the earlier type... PeteStupps
Has your car got overdrive now? If it has, your propshaft will be too short and gearbox mounting is different for non-OD. But presumably you'd be wanting to transfer the overdrive to the new box in that case - which would require stripping both and swapping the mainshaft over. RobPearce
Quoted from glang- as opposed to left and back on the earlier type... I think you mean "left and forward" 😜
