  1. It should be quite possible to get it back on the road for less than the plate is worth I would have thought. But whatever you do, do NOT contact them in advance in any way what-so-ever. There lies loads of pain.
  2. Must have half a dozen sets about I reckon. you going to Stoneleigh?
  3. Definitely a Heinz car. All models of Spitfire and a bit of GT6 Will set the benchmark price for bitsa-cars formerly owned by Simon Cowell.
  4. It is a real shame it is not being used, allows really good control of the event. I guess those that chose not to use it last time had their reasons. I do wonder if something similar may become a requirement to get the permit in the future.
  5. How wrong you are. 🙂 Perhaps you should auction off entry numbers 4 to 9 to the highest bidders in return to a donation to the chosen charity. Basically buying their spaces in advance for a consideration, and avoiding the scrum.
  6. Dean, I know someone in Norfolk who may be able to help you get a start on it, perhaps get welding done to allow you to redo the mechanics and paint?
  7. Howard, your rev counter is going to be capacitive rather than inductive I think.
  8. I want Cactus leather, though leather cloth will do as a compromise.
  9. The Celts appear to have build the wall in England, thus annexing part of it. We know what happened last time someone tried that don’t we.
  10. Next thing to do is pop the heater out and fit new furry / foamy seals. make sure what meagre air flow is going the right places.
  11. Got the 2000 out from under the cover yesterday and it was given a good thrashing round the lanes of Essex on a 12-car. when I pulled up in driveway last night realised why the headlights were so crap, outer main beams don’t come on anymore. hopefully a quick fix in morning.
  12. At most Just fit the estate with a PI cam Will give it bit more “pep” without spoiling the MK1 engine too much.
  13. Of course, but we will gloss over the result. 😞 First Triumph, so we will take that. might send you the clues, so you too can say rude words about Andy.
  14. If you are going to get rad rebuilt, might as well do a flat top, in readiness if you go 2.5.
  15. I suspect there is air stuck in there. i tend to fill my MK1 via a heater hose as the heater is higher than many other Triumphs.

You haven’t said what engine is in front of the OD, if 1200 or standard 1300, it may struggle to pull the higher gear if the revs are too low. Ifa 1500, better as it is more suited to pulling the higher gears.
  17. That doesn’t look like a UK number plate, whereabouts are you? Oddly some 1600 parts are easier to get than 2 litre parts, due to lack of demand. Ask away, and don’t forget that Rimmers are not the only UK supplier of parts.
  18. Make sure you post loads of photos of your Cactus seats when you get them done.
  19. And old Front hub / upright in a vice good for checking if rims are bent, so time for swapping wheels round
  20. Looks like Chris has revamped his spring range. I would ring him up and see what matches what used to be inch lower non-progressive springs. the 205/400 are his current progressive offering. looks like 575 are the rear ones, assuming they are inch lower.
  21. I have Piranhas in a couple of my cars, all have needed dry joints dealing with. the big transistor has also failed on one of them, easily replaced also make sure it’s getting 12v if you are using a ballasted system, easily wired into the feed wrongly.
