  4. Some cabinets are accessible from underneath On some there is a long lever/bar that runs along the back inside face but the lever mechanism can be at the bottom. Not saying that is the case with yours.....but if its heavy try leaning it backwards and see if you can see the lever lock Like all steel office filing cabinets.....they work on the same principle
  5. Four alloy diamond pattern road wheels.SOLD
  6. Our cam was from Newman with matching followers....The old ones from a `reputable `Triumph supplier had craters worn in them. ARP push rods and head bolts really good
  7. I was kind of looking forward to this event coming back and entering.....however getting to the mid 70`s has slowed me down somewhat, so I think I/we may have to decline on such a good event that we done for a few times in the past
  8. After the 10CR and arriving with noises from the box, and then investigating refurb costs, it was found to be a better decision just to replace the whole box. In these days sentiment of keeping your original box is maybe not a good decision. You just do not know what may be lurking in there
  9. Yep ....I forgot about them ....best thing since sliced errr bread. Puts shearing vertical links to the back of your mind when whipping around the Dolly mites
  10. I recently wrote in the magazine about the ability to select the correct insurance company when requiring an add on, continental breakdown insurance cover. The subject basically revolved around , either "Free breakdown cover included" or selecting a company that offers a good breakdown service....but with an additional premium. Generally the Free breakdown cover revolves around an insurance provider who then uses a general recovery agent eg DAS on the continent and the AA/RAC. However an additional breakdown insurance coverage, premium will generally mean employing the services of a more reliable recovery service that looks after the car and its owners with a bit more sympathy . However when selecting an insurance company with this service has to be ...again...a cautious act on the insured . On the last 10CR one of our cars broke down on half way up a mountain top and had to be recovered. Making phone calls brought the speedy recovery truck right to the mountain top door, then a taxi arrived and a hotel sought and provided. The following day ,two bus rides,a train ride and then flights got the occupants back to Manchester. The car was in an Italian breakdown service garage and every few days we were advised by email and text..." the car is in xxxx location and will be with you asap".....This was an excellent service advising where the car actually was and we had no qualms on it being returned successfully. However the death of our beloved queen, new national holiday and local holidays got in the way of a more speedier return. On the return various attempts were made to try and establish the benefits due against travel expenses and accommodation, by ringing and emailing the car insurance covered company ,who in turn advised us that we should be talking to the sub contracted company covering the repatriation of both car and occupants. This went on for ages going back and forth between both companies and ourselves .............basically for the fact...there was NO advice on the car insurance policy documents to say where and how you make your claims.. Nothing was stated in black and white to advise policy holders what to do in such an instance. Eventually , as the Yorkshire sleuths we are, we finally made contact with the correct area for submitting claims on expenses and subsistence during a repatriation. The basic answer to all this was.........and in fact we did not read/check every word of the twenty page policy document before departing........READ ALL THE FACTS ON WHAT TO DO after the event. This was a personal problem, which I will endeavor to advise readers, by contacting a number of well known insurance companies and requesting their Ts and Cs for breakdown coverage to benefit the club members I will then, request that the results be printed in the CT magazine for your perusal PS For three people travelling back form Italy, in a remote area , the cost was around 750.00 euro`s........and the car came back free! .
  11. Every one has the ability to read...especially specs...which are black and white...but it is down to the individual car and driver how a pad can react to the individual driver......
  12. So you want me to answer .....first I remember you saying ,said few years ago, when corrected on a some points ...that you would never , never post on this forum ever again....and here you go again making narky comments. Our cars have quite a lot of modifications that are on a list too long to mention, as we just get on with modifying and enjoying the cars for what they do. 2000 / with added Rover 3.5 V8 engine has the added power, along with modified gear box to give extra power on the top two of five gears. A bespoke gearbox cradle to support the rocking of the added power . Electronic ignition. A bespoke cooling system leading to a designed aluminium radiator along with electric cooling fan. Modified prop shaft to a stronger diff and CV joint shafts. Lowered suspension with special springs obtained from the USA. Wider wheels and twin pot calipers with 1155 pads.Electric windows fitted to redesigned front doors. Alfa front leather seats. A specially designed add on aluminium fuel tank giving another three gallons for longer runs like the 10CR etc Plus many more bits and bobs that improve handling etc The Spitfire, recently re machined engine with Newman fast road(not race) cam, Duplex/vernier timing gear, electronic ignition bespoke from H and h ignition solution. uprated 75amp alternator ,to cover additional gadget requirements ARP Racing cylinder head bolts, inline top hose heat sensor for the electric fan. Oil cooler with sandwich plate, new wiring harness with wired in live spurs ,incorporating an additional fuse box and relay box. New higher poundage springs ,adjustable rear radius arms . 3.63 diff. and stronger spring overdrive.....and 1144 pads that stop on a tanner even going down the Timmelsjoch or Stelvio.Plus many more upgrades that improves the car These cars have done many endurance events, numerous 10CRs track days etc........but getting older is harder on me than the car....which is bullet proof Now you pick out what you like but we are happy with what we have done without bleating on about it... Oh and the lack of response is due to fact I am not glued to the forum reading various things as I, along with the rest of the committee are getting on with trying to keep this great club going.....not banging my own drum
  13. Original Mk3 Spitfire heater box with working motor and matrix £40.00 +p and p Contact Mike 07788911742
  14. 🤔......making someone look like a right Charlie
  15. Thats a rare beast....and worth quite a bit. Dont let that go for a song!
  16. I coming to the opinion....go on say it....that people are just not interested in buying advertised second hand spares unless you are giving them away. Trying to reduce the amount of unwanted `stuff` on the shelf is getting to the point....that you may as well just throw it away/scrap it. In days gone by ,renovators would be glad of the ` hardly used good spare`......but nowadays no one is interested Even at Stoneleigh there were `moochers` and not many buyers walking out with bags of goodies on their arms I bet if I were to list numerous items , free of charge I would be inundated with interested people
  17. I always say....I`ll risk it for a biscuit!
  18. Now travel is getting....a little ....better, we`re considering a trip to the States and joining in with a Torpedo Trip and the 10CR enthusiasts. Should be a good trip....but not Bourbon free
  19. When you are free.....the home living room awaits you!!
  20. The moulded sets are not designed for use with a thick sound deadening material. You may be a lot better off having the tufted /wool based carpet as they are more helpful when sound deadening
  21. Not needed with the right pads....Neither Stelvio,Umbrail,S gotthard Etc etc etc
