  1. I've a sprint engine fitted in my TR7. The front of the engine has always had a little mist of oil on it but noticed recently it's getting worse so thinking time to do the front crank oil seal. Is there anything I need to be aware of when changing this or is it just a simple one out one in sort of job?

  3. Had a good day on the Northern Dales, as of yet not sure where we finished as didn't stay fro the results as it was absolutely pouring down. We'll not have done brilliantly as we got at least two wrong tests, but we still finished smiling and laughing. It certainly got slippy when the rain came mid afternoon.
  4. Good to see other TRs on the entry list, a TR3A and a TR4 alongside my TR7
  5. Just the info I was after thank you
  6. I'm thinking I my treat the TR to a new battery to go with the starter I'm going to get. What battery are people fitting, anything fancy or just what ever fits?
  7. Attached should be the entry list for this event, bit disappointing with the lack of historic cars and only one Triumph, mine.
  8. My entry has gone in today for this event, looking forward to it should be a good one, be great to see a few more Triumphs out on these Northern events
  9. Would you have a part number for the hi- torque starter Rimmers are quoting same part number for the TR7 and the Sprint, yet WOSP who make Hi-Torque starters are quoting different numbers.
  10. Theo have you noticed a difference with fitting a HiTorque version? I'm liking the size of them compared to the original one
  11. This is coming up in less than two weeks, there was a couple of places left due to a couple of withdrawls. So if you're interested get in touch with Ed Graham
  12. Had thought about cleaning it, but if it doesn't work means taking it back off again. Prefer remove/fit once, especially as will probably be doing it on my back outside.
  13. The starter on my Sprint engined TR is gradually getting worse. When you turn the key more often than not the starter just spins but doesn't engage, it has always done it since I got the car. It was just occasionally and I could live with it but now it is happening more and more and taking longer to engage. I'm going to change the starter, wondering is there any advantage to fitting a high torque version as they are a little dearer but not stupid amounts more. I'm not sure if mine has the heat shield fitted as is shown on the TR starter, is this something that helps prolong the starter?
  14. Just wondering if my email has been received, I did the Shaw Trophy and sent an email to the address listed in the first post.
  15. I wouldn't use a full on competition pad in a road car as when cold they are not the best. Might get away with a Mintex 1144 but anything else will probably only work best when warmed up correctly. I don't rate any EBC as "competition" material, more a fast road pad, though they may be better these days it's a while since I tried them. remember if fitting proper competition pads follow the correct bedding in procedure to get the best out of them, which can seem a little extreme. If you do want decent competition pads can't go far wrong with the Pagid range or the Mintex F range or the Ferodo DS2500 or DS3000. Pads from these companies are not cheap but by golly they work, to give you an idea of costs I was paying £160 ish per set of Pagid "blue" for my rally Nova that was on Astra front brakes.
  16. Yes folks another tests type event up here in the North of England, this one run by Spadeadam Motor club. This is the third running of the event, I'm guessing by reading the regs it will be a very similar format to the recent Shaw Trophy that I took part in, no regularities results decided on the tests. The date for this one is Sunday August 13th This should be a link to the website where regs and entry form can be found https://spadeadammotorclub.co.uk/the-blue-streak-targa-rally-17/ I should hopefully be putting an entry in
  17. This looks like it'll be a good event, bit of a navigation event with tests and a run up the hill climb. I'm going to be doing it in the TR7
  18. I've copied a video on to the Club Triumph facebook page of the last test we did for those who also use facebook and want to have a look
  19. Moss is still in pieces, but the TR has new front suspension and is going quite well at the moment. Just the bloomin heater to look at as it will not go on to cold. When I'm off might have to stick my head under the dash, hopefully it will a cable fault
  20. Have to say we had a great day yesterday doing this event, all but one of the tests were good. Luckily the one bad one was only used once, I understand why they used it as the organisers lost 2 or 3 test venues in the last couple of weeks so had a bit of a panic trying to find some more. The TR ran well all day, Sam in the left hand seat kept me right on all the tests, fair enough she didn't have to do much navigating on the road sections as once I knew where the test venues were I knew the routes to get there. We finished 14th overall and 3rd in the class, happy with that. I'd highly recommend people to come and try this event next time I'll do a full report to send in to Dale for inclusion in club mag

  22. This is another test type event being run under a Targa permit. It is on the 11th of July again in the beautiful North East, entry fee is £95 which includes lunch and meal at the finish for both crew members. The start and finish venue is a good one that I know quite well it is a local Micro Brewery, about 5 or 6 mins from my house. This is a link to the event website which has links for the regs and the online entry system http://wdmc.org.uk/?page=157&t=Shaw+Trophy I've just put an entry in today, doing it in the TR7
  23. I've been advised that the entry is now 50% full, so still room for more I understand fine weather has also been applied for, though can't guarantee that
