  1. Ellis, can you it be any event regardless of where or who organised it? Not that I've done one yet, but have got an entry in for the Northern Dales
  2. That`s why i cant watch the BTCC any more, might as well be driving bumper cars. I will be spectating at Silverstone. S [/quote] I get very frustrated watching the BTCC these days, there is far to much contact and there are certain "big name drivers" seem to think it is normal and acceptable. Well unless someone does it to them, the CoC and stewards should be doing more to punish the poor driving standards
  3. Yes you can buy helmet posts, but if your helmet is not fitted with the holes and FIA sticker you can't just drill a hole and fit them. I've not competed with a FHR yet, though I have bought a HANS device. But before I can use it for stage rallying I will need a new helmet as mine is now out of date. There are a handful of companies that hire out the HANS and Simpson FHR devices, so if you are only doing one or two events a year it is another option. I believe some may also hire out helmets, that I'm not so sure about I'd always prefer to have my own.
  4. Entries are starting to come in for this fun event, I'm doing it in my  Sprint engine TR7. Be great to see some more Triumphs out doing it, like I said in my earlier post make a weekend of it and visit the beautiful North East countryside on the Saturday then have a little competitive fun on the Sunday.
  5. Blimey is it only six months until it starts all over again, can't wait!!
  6. Ok folks the regulations and entry form should be in this post. As Club Triumph is a member of NESCRO there should be no need to join Hexham Motor Club, but of course if you do wish to join that will not be a problem. Be good to see more than just my triumph on the entry list
  7. the following quote is from Ed Graham the person behind the event "Northern Dales Classic Trophy We are delighted to confirm that permission has been received to run the 2nd. Northern Dales Classic Trophy at Eastgate on July23rd. The event will be run entirely within the confines of the former Eastgate Cement Works complex and will feature some 20 tests, the vast majority of the mileage will be on sealed surfaces. Regulations for this event will be available from mid June and, as it is a round of the NESCRO Challenge and Gates Tyre Northern Series, the entry is sure to fill rapidly so early entry is recommended." I did it last time and it was a great event, no doubt it will be better this year as running in July rather than November. Be great to see some more Triumph cars out on the event, I'm sure you'll be made more than welcome. As most of you are based further down the country it could be a good excuse for a weekend away in the picturesque North East.
  8. could always finish the Hexham in the early hours then drive straight to do the Warwickshire 12 car 😉
  9. This event is coming back in 2017, the date for your diaries is July 23rd. I understand it will be a very similar format to last year with a number of tests run a few times and also the possibility of a couple of the tests being joined together later in the day. I'll keep updating as I get information
  10. The Hexham Historic / John Robson road rally is running 25th feb, the following is from the CoC I am pleased to announce Hexham Motor Club will be running the event on the weekend of the 25th and 26th of February 2017. There is a new organising team, with myself being COC (Jonathon Webb) and Ali Proctor being assistant COC The entries will be limited to 40 on the John Robson and 20 on the Hexham Historic. We will be using a few miles of whites for those who like the loose, there will be nothing too rough, so don't be put off, although you may want to use knobblies and a sump guard if you fancy being particularly flamboyant. Both Me and Ali are current competitors, and are putting on an event we would both love to compete on. So plotting will be easy (a mixture of pre plot and plot and bash) and the roads will be challenging. Lastly, one of the joys of Northumbria, and what makes our event unique, is our quiet roads. So once again we will be doing our traditional early start and we hope to have the first car away at 9pm. We look forward to your support and seeing you on the event Jonathon Webb Clerk of the Course extratimegifts.com John Robson / Hexham Historic 2017 I am pleased to announce the regulations and entries are now online and open. They can be found here: http://www.hexhammotorclub.co.uk/ (If the page doesn't load properly, hit refresh) It's going to be a very exiting rally and one not to be missed!
  11. whichever charity be great if they got as involved as the Guide Dog people appeared to
  12. If you are looking to get it log booked for rallying speak with your local MSA scrutineer who will be listed in the "blue book" they will help and advise on what needs doing. They will be the person inspecting and filling in the forms on behalf of the MSA. If it is for racing and you have a championship in mind get in touch with the championship scrutineer. All the guys I've had dealings with are very approachable and helpful and offer very good advise
  13. I've only got a couple that people have sent me, they have been sent on to Dale for the next Club Torque I'll see if I can get something posted on here On the Club Triumph facebook page I did put a link to some live streaming we did on one of the tests
  14. It was a great well run event, four tests run four times, good social side catching up with people not seen for a while. Good mix of cars from MG Midget, Riley Elf of course my TR, modern stuff there was a few MX5 and RX8 and just about any other car you can think of.
  15. I'm doing this event on sunday in the TR7, which I've not been in since the RBRR. It should be a laugh, not expecting to win anything. I'll try and take some pics and do a report for Club Torque
  16. We had no queue at either JoG or LE, in fact at LE they were actually standing waiting to serve us. No complaints about either breakfast
  17. No major complaints from me on any of the control stops other than Sugar Loaf not big enough to hold cars until due time, same at Carter Bar. But rest spot on, yes Blyth was a touch busy but seemed to cope
  18. Indeed it is but modern society appears to not let people have common sense any more. In my eyes it is quite simple, if tired swap with other driver if both tired stop and both rest. Everyone who takes part are sensible adults who should be able to make the correct decision at the time. The three times we have started the event we have stayed the Thursday night so we are relaxed and not done any driving to get to the start, it does help. Both times we've finished we have stayed on the Sunday night. For us that is all part of the event, plus we do live about 280 miles away from the start. But if people live within an hour or so of the finish be very unlikely they will stay the night. If it was part of the run that you had to stay as Tim says it puts costs up, which in turn then might reduce the number of people wanting to do it. As the saying goes "If it isn't broken don't fix it"
  19. Some people may be interested in this new event Hexham motor club are putting on in November. I'm sure it will be a fun day out. Below is taken from the email I received and the regs and entry form should be attached "After several years of searching I am delighted to inform members that at long last, a venue has been secured for an  off road event and the Northern Dales Classic Trophy will take place on November 20th at Eastgate Cement Works in Weardale, this venue will be familiar to anyone who has previously marshalled on one of the big classic rallies such as Rally of the Tests, Flying Scotsman or Le Jog. The date isn’t ideal it would have been preferable to run earlier in the year but negotiations have been long and difficult, however, if all goes well, we hope to run another event at this venue in June or July 2017. The format will be similar to a NESCRO or Targa rally and will, if all goes to schedule, feature 4 tests run 4 times giving 16 tests in all, a packed days entertainment. There will be no road mileage whatsoever.  The entry will be limited to 40 to keep things moving and cut down on hanging about, so, the entry list is likely to fill up quickly, as the event is open to other clubs, NESCRO , SD34 etc , so early entry is strongly advised."
  20. All depends on which car we decide to use. The TR ran fine so just a service and maybe a HID light upgrade. It could do with the bodywork tidying up but that wouldn't stop it being used. The Moss is still lying in bits in the garage, need to sort out an engine and upgrade the electrics then put it all back together again.
  21. I'd think official diversion will be off on to the A19 at Disforth then up to the A66 and across to Darlington and back on the A1. Just hope everyone has a road atlas and knows how to read a map 😎 All adds to the adventure of the run
  22. Reason being it is a lot easier to post on facebook when using my phone than on here.
