    Windows and Doors

Couple of problems.  Drivers door outer weather seal doesn't meet the window allowing rain into the door. I know i can probably washer up the runners but that will mean the window moves away from the door seal. Passengers door; The window here appears not to be perpendicular with the drop slot. The rear edge being tight on the outer seal front edge tight on the inner drop seal.  The door lock also is a little peculiar when i pull the handle open the door lock engages, the door opens a little but jams requiring the door to be unlocked. I have just had the lock mechanism out and cleaned it all up , I adjusted the lock rod to utilise the full throw of the lock.   Any help appreciated.
  2. I think its because a Dynamo only can charge at certain RPM when there is a full load so the Ammeter shows if its discharging. An Alternator should charge in all conditions so the Voltmeter should show a pretty steady reading across the rev range.... or something like that.  Plus wiring a voltmeter is so much easier!
  3. And due to the wear you scroll seal would have had it pees oil out through the bellhousing drain hole... make sure its clear so oil doesnt get thrown on to the clutch
  4. I need a couple of new tyres for my Herald and have some 155/80 on there ATM but find they look flabby. Would 145/70 be better or 145/80?
  5. I did wonder why the importance of a Scarborough round trip...I though there was something nice to look at. I'll amend it.
  6. Howard in that top pic I have avoided the centre of Middlesborough and skirted down on the A roads
  7. No i have the skinny Herald lugs need replacing with some Freelander studs https://www.paddockspares.com/clp9037l-stud.html and then some meatier nuts http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=2040_2239_734 .  Just need to work out what tyres to put on the wheels.
  8. I have a set of four sprint Alloys planning to fit to my herald... does all the above mean they wont fit
  9. Howard Tyre uses open maps too to plot the course seems very similar to the program you are using, not sure if yours is free? Anyway I have gone by the Google Maps on the Word doc emailed out but then altered the Whitby section, in my mind a drive by the East Coast seems better than the A1 even if it is pitch black!   I have attached the file you sent with my amendments but including Whitby.
  10. Howard I am tweaking yours to try to follow more of the Google route, but then i noticed the Google route misses Whitby altogether so will post another in a bit!

  12. Howard I use a program called http://www.tyretotravel.com/ which allows you to create routes then save in several different formats.
  13. I wish I read this earlier as i have just done waypoints from the Google map! Anyway here is the Co-Pilot Route;   I take no responsibility if you drive into a lake/sea/ocean/mountain/sheep or get lost whilst following this route.
  14. I too am interested in this as I am going Megajolt shortly on the Spit IV.   I also have a Spit head on my 13/60 herald engine. I dont know about the dizzy as its a lucas and i'm using factory timing on the crank.    Keep me posted on what you find.
  15. When it is worn down to the rivets change it. Overdrive Spares in Rugby are worth a visit if you are not far away
  16. Its a 74 Spit, I am thinking i may just go for a Canleys one.
  17. sure I can pop some bearings in. i guess its a case of putting the mk3 shell bearings in
  18. I have a Delco Distributor which is whining a little when cold. I guess it needs a rebuild... there arent many suppliers for the parts though.. Rimmers and Canleys only sell the main bits. Anyone point me in the direction of a supplier?
  19. found this https://youtu.be/Nml830yObPI figuring that is not right I now have the box on the bench. I can not remember how to get rear bearing out

  21. I have my four synchro 3 rail Gearbox took it to bits, fitted new mainshaft so as to add OD. It all fitted back together and OD engaged on 3 fourth wouldnt work, but that is down to my fitting of the cam activiating the switch. The gear box was having second jump out when i lifted off yesterday. I needed a new master cylinder as the one i had was rubbish and the new seals didnt work, and then the ebay one was rubbish and the push rod was wrong length. Got a new one from fitchetts yesterday.  To take the tunnel off i usually just put the box in fourth to easy it coming out. However i couldn't get the box out of fourth with out brute force. I bled the clutch through and a firm pedal press and still it wouldn't budge. The clutch is new. I have read varying diagnosis from worn bush kit, selector rods and synchromesh, just wondered what the forum thought?
