  1. If you do decide to swap the head for a late 2ltr or early 2.5 do not forget to get the pushrods that go with it.
  2. I would not be too hung up on tuning up the 2500 S engine. Fit a full set of bearings. A modified Gt6 Vitesse sump AND DIPSTICK !! The HS 6 carbs on Gt6 opened out manifold. And dump the waxstats. A decent exhaust system. A pair of K&N's. They go allright in a Gt6 like this, I have A Gt6 and a Sixfire both like this.

    GT6 Sump removal.

5458 wrote:well I've tried and failed to get the sump off mine with the engine lifted as far as I am comfortable lifting it and it still won't clear the bellhousing. the chassis crossmember is in the way, as is the steering rack. it's the chassis crossmember and bellhousing that are the problems though. I am SERIOUSLY annoyed! How far can you lift the engine without causing problems? It will come out provided you remove the lower bellhousing bolts,  also a bit of leverage with a bar or lump of timber. Perservere. And you can jack the engine till it contacts the bulkhead. I do'nt think anybody said it was easy.

    EFI: Fuel Tank Mods

The idea of a in fuel pump and swirl pot is nice, but can see no real benifit. Rob Why do'nt you just make a sump in the rear bottom of the tank and take your fuel feed from it will save space and save on buying or making a swirl pot.

1381 wrote: [*] Got the 4 injector bosses sat here for installation into my spare original 1500 manifold Is it really necessary to enlarge the outlet on the Spitfire 1500 tank, and would it be a bad idea using the breather pipe next to it as a fuel return from the external swirl pot? If this were actually doable it would make the installation soooooo easy.... What are you using the twin SU's modified into throttle bodies ? Yes fuel return needs to be unrestricted, failing on this results in overly high pressure at low rpm, resulting in high fueling at low speed, unnessesary map complications. How do I know this ?

  10. Those highbacks were standard on mk2 and 3 us spec cars to meet legisation.
  11. I ordered some bits from Chic Doig a few years ago after a couple of weeks they had not apeared I rang Chick about this and he sent a fresh package of same items this time by recorded delivery. About two months later the original package arrived with me.

    Tr6 carbs

If the strombergs have long necks on the damper they are TR6.

A wedgie bloke will be along soon I'm sure!   So you think someone who likes wedgies will come along. Well debatable if giving or receiving said wedgie.

Just been pondering this on mine, tried lapping the followers but some turned out to be fairly dished anyway although they looked ok. Nick Correct just testing. not to say I have not done that. It's okay I remember being wrong once before.

I gave up on 3.27's donkeys years ago I built up a strengthened differential unit with 3.27 CWP, the differential stood the test but then eventually the pinion split. That was the end of me and 3.27's. Blew up a few 3.63's after that but have not looked back since going with the 3.63 Quaife combination.
