    door seals

Yes, I can recommend Bills Door seals too. They are very similar to the original profile and no need to slam the doors with them fitted
  2. I've seen the Circular pins on the Arm that operates on the Bearing Carrier wear, but never seen the actual carrier wear? Also check the dimple part of the Operating arm that the Slave Cylinder pin works on for wear, cracks & splits. Gary
  3. On a Rotoflex Spring the outer Leaf Clamps are like Marcus states simply thick steel U shaped Clamps peened over the Leaves. Its the Inner ones that have the Bolt run inside a Sleeve that clamp a slightly thinner U shaped clamp holding the Leaves together, I took one of the clamp bolts into B&Q and got a short length of steel tube the correct inside diameter and then cut it to the right length, it was only a couple of pounds or so. Gary
  4. I've got a TR5 Handbook and in the Wheel change section the wheel shown looks exactly he same as My wheels although who knows, they may have used an earlier print from the TR4 Handbook?! I have measured the width of the rims and they are 4.5" which again matches what it says in the back of the Handbook too? I know the later TR6 Wheels are 5.5" width and the early TR6's where fitted with Rostyle trims too and these may have been 5.5" wide. I'm 99% sure they are correct, the Rostyle Wheeltrims I have fit them so I'm going to have them refurbished then try and sort the best deal on 165 x 15 Tyres, Michelin XAS one of the original fitment tyres are available at a price Will see what equivalents I can get aswell I reckon?
  5. One More, can any TR Experts please confirm if these are TR5/TR250 Rims please?
  6. Can anyone confirm these are TR5/TR250 Rims please?
  7. Andy I'm not sure if it will be Stove Enamel finish or Powder coating, I will check with the Specialist?
  8. Lee Yes 15" to suit the TR5 Wheels, I've got 6 in total so will use the best 4?
  9. I have a set of steel rims that I have inherited for my TR5 which I intend to have refurbished (blasted and powder coated) I'll then get some new Tyres and fit the Original Rostyle trims, in place of the Painted Wire wheels which I'm not a big fan of?   The Wheels have 3 raised Pips that accept the trim, I have tried a trim on one of wheels and it fits, so I think I have the right rims? Although a fellow TR5 Owner I know seems to think they may be TR4 or TR4A Wheels but surely the Rostyle trim wouldn't fit these rims? The original colour of the wheels seems to be a darkish Brown, can anyone confirm if this is correct as I want to get them re-finished to the the Original Colour scheme? I have posted this query on the TR-Register site and seem to have conflicting answers on what colour original TR5/TR250 Steel rims should be?
  10. I've been to a few of the Restoration Shows at Stoneleigh and I thought the amount of Stalls and people in attendance was down on my previous visits? At least they got there act together with the parking for this show, the MG & Triumph show parking was a farce earlier in the year, lets hope they get it sorted for 2016 with a proper Classic car parking area. I might even take the TR if the weathers dry See you soon. Cheers Gary
  11. Hi Conrad How did you get on Selling your wares, was it worthwhile going? I read in this weeks Classic Car Weekly that attendance figure where well up! When I left I thought how full all the Car Parks and side roads looked with Parked Cars. Next visit to Stoneleigh for me will be the MG & Triumph spares day in late February, will you be selling your Spares again?
  12. Most suppliers sell them, Horn Contact brush. Here's a picture from the Rimmers Website.
  13. If you have an Early 3 Rail Dolomite Box that's a rare beasty and a good one to have It will have the uprated Mainshaft and the J Type Overdrive is a bonus too! You will need a Dolomite Clutch plate with the Fine Splines (21 I think) it is the same size as the Vitesse in all other respects but the Vitesse clutch plate has less splines (13?). The box is very slightly longer than the normal Vitesse D Type Overdrive box but the Sliding Joint propshaft should take the extra length? You may need to slightly cut the Chassis main rails in the vicinity of the Overdrive/solenoid to give sufficent clearance. Had one in my Vitesse and it worked well
  14. Thats on my List Tim, been doing some tinkering this afternoon, fitted the H&H Electronic Ignition, new leads, Rotor arm and Sports Coil, had to pick the Mrs up from work at 5.30 so didn't get chance to fire her up? Will get out up the Peak District soon and Take some Photo's, took some of the Vitesse up near Chrome Hill so will take the 5 up to the same spot , just need a nice day and some time off work!
  15. Just ordered one of the H&H Ignition Eazi-fit Electronic Ignition kits together with a new Coil, HT Leads and a better Quality Rotor Arm, guess what I'll be up to at the weekend Hopefully better starting and smoother running. I enquired about one of the Red Rotor Arms with Lee but was told these are now made in China?! I didn't realize this, anyone know any different?
  16. Another new one up for sale on the Car And Classic Site? Anyone fancy being brave with a full restoration!   http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C660681 Any one seen this car for sale before? I have
  17. Had a few E-Mailed Quotes back and Lee at H&H seems the best on price? Anybody else got one of the H&H systems fitted, they seem to be very popular with the Classic Ford Escort Owners?
  18. I'm thinking of upgrading my new Classic to electronic ignition, I had one of the types that fit inside the Distributor on my Vitesse and had no problems over a 7 year period. It was purchased via the TSSC Club shop and was an Aldon/Pertronix type system I think. I've heard a few story's of failure of these units on the TR-Register Site? I've seen also that the best place to buy them is via Retrorockets in the States, so I've e-mailed them for prices in Pounds including delivery/etc I also may get a new Flamethrower Coil and leads too. Anyone had any bad experiences with this kit?
  19. I'm off to Newark Auto-jumble on Sunday, can anyone confirm the Unipart Part number for the Spin on Oil filter to suit the 6 cylinder Engine, I know's it's been on here before but can't find the Post? The Fram or Cooper part numbers would be useful too. Cheers Gary
  20. Had a Dark Blue Mohair Hood off the Don Trimming Company on my Vitesse and it folded away no problem The only problem I did have was with Mohair is it's very difficult to get it taught like the vinyl hoods, so when doing 60+ on a windy day the hood used to flutter a bit at the sides and make an annoying noise The solution was to travel with the hood down whenever possible
  21. Correct Trouble is the Mechanism's where diferent to later cars (After 62 I think?) with everything built into the Door Handle? Don't think the two are interchangeable but I may be wrong (Bill where are you?)
  22. You can buy shims to fit between the Rubber Engine Mounts and the Bracket that bolts to the Engine, I had a couple on each side on my Vitesse, this may help with the Sump clearance, they are the same as the Spacers for the Font lower Wishbone mounts and available from all the suppliers? The 'J' Type Overdrive is a very tight fit inbetween the Chassis rails, I had to slightly cut and bend part of the Main rail lip on one side to stop it catching . As stated by Mark you need to cut back the transmission cover about 100mm or so for access to the prop bolts, a cover can be made up out of shaped Aly or Stainless plate and fixed with Self tappers, Spire cliips and mastic or seam sealant to close the gap. Can you not space out with washers between the Over=drive mounting studs and the Chassis plate to get sufficent clearance?
